Why was Xpac hated by fans?

I remember this match he had on raw with steve blackman I think it was a Singapore caine match or just a hardcore match, but blackman came out and started spinning that shyt like darth vader and X pac was like "I can do That!" he looks around and realizes he forgot to grab a kendo stick so he has to ask blackman for a spare once he gets one hes like Then right when he swings it slips out of his hand and he tosses it up over his head and out of the ring

yeah I thought he was cool and all from the 123 kid to syxx to x pac with his martial arts background (educated feet) and sh1t, but somewhere along the line he just matt hardy'ed his career

Honestly he wasn't hated that as a wrestler from what I recall...........He stopped being liked when him and Chyna did that Surreal Life shyt and he was treating her like shyt..................

Around 2000, Meltzer needed some new dirt sheet villains (Nash Hall, and HBK were old hats), so he began to zero in on HHH and Xpac as being backstage troublemaker/a$$holes who were holding back or bothering all their favorites. Things just developed from there.

He was getting great heat as a mid card performer, but the internet turned it into "oh no, the fans are chanting XPac sucks because they really think he sucks!". It was all so corny.
