There have been quite a few releases past 5 years better than any Kendrick ever put out but since he's the anti Drake AND dissed DRAKE (most hated coli rapper) y'all hype. And no, I'm not a Drake fan.

Kendrick's album is better crafted though, and his preceding album is the most critically acclaimed album of the past 3 years.

I dunno but if Kanye would give him more mainstream props and give him the protege treatment (like Big Sean) he'll get the exposure.
They are both great,but why is one getting treated like he's reinvented the wheel? I told you I think it's due to being anti Drake/Control verse/overall hype. Its not about music anymore.
Critically acclaimed by who? He's the first conscious rapper who had a radio hit since Kanye that's all it was. GKMC overrated as fukk too. Kendrick had 3 radio hits. That's really what this is about.

Everybody in both bhp threads praises the projects...what's the issue? No cyhi is at as popular as kendrick so 359374 threads don't get made about him, but there are always more and less popular artists...it is what it is. Pre GKMC kendrick didn't get this attention, so if cyhi has a mainstream breakout, I'm pretty sure he'd get more burn

That's only part of it...a small part at that.
Section 80 got love before Drake.
The Dre cosign, and backing from people like Quik brought him higher. GKMC Was a great album. Industry heads and fans backed him and he followed up with a strong sophomore album.
Cyhi, released black hystori which was great...for some reason, it seems like his Kanye cosign has faded. BH 2 was also great but he has yet to release an album.
So like it or not, he jus isn't mentioned in the same vein as Kendrick.
To be objective, lyrically I think cyhi is slightly better, but he just doesn't have the song writing and a,bum making ability as Kendrick.
Again, I like both and think that we should promote BOTH and not one over the other.
