I don't think there are too many people celebrating the fact he hit his girl. Most people are just saying his punishment was reasonable, considering the fact that there were no charges pressed, and his wife forgave him. Then there are guys acting like we should send him to the stocks for what he did. Yea, it was a bad thing, no doubt, but how much punishment is enough and how much is too much? What punishment do you think he deserves, and what would be your basis for the punishment? and can you do that while being rational, and unemotional about the "sentencing?"

It comes down to this for me, Ray Rice beating a woman unconscious = Josh Gordon failing a drug test(2 games) & < Joe Haden using adderall(4 games)

I'm just puzzled why the Rice situation was the proverbial straw here. Just because of the video?

I mean:

June 8, 2007: According to the Denver Post, two incident reports were filed by Atlanta police. A friend of Watley’s claimed Marshall hit her car and then threw a rock at the passenger door as Watley was riding in the passenger seat. Watley also told police Marshall cut her in the thigh and punched her in the face. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Marshall was not present when police arrived. No charges were filed.

June 30, 2007: According to the Denver Post, Watley told Atlanta police Marshall punched and choked her at his condo. She had a bruise and scratches. Marshall was not present when police arrived. No charges were filed.

And Marshall is pretty much perceived as a good guy in the media now...he's on TV a lot.
I honestly think it's because people let the media control when they're outraged. It kinda goes back to the Charlie Sheen thing. The media was acting like, "Oh that's Charlie being Charlie," but wanted Chris Brown thrown under the jail. And Charlie was choking out a different chick twice a month(exaggeration). He was well on his way to killing one of those chicks, and I'd be surprised if he doesn't have a couple of dead hookers in the Nevada desert somewhere. But since the general media took it lightly, everyone else seemed to also. With Rice, the media is playing the outrage card, and now all of a sudden everyone is a domestic violence expert.

Yes, because of the video.

It's not the straw, it's the mere fact people respond to something they see more than something they read in allegations.

Why keep posting, isn't this obvious?

I heard Big Ben raped a woman, now imagine they had video of that scenario? He might be allowed back in the league.

Stop acting like you don't get it, you're smarter than that

I get the video is really bad. But the reports from other incidents (Brandon Marshall, Greg Hardy) are honestly worse and it's barely been touched.

And for the record I've known about Ray since he was in 9th grade(went to college with his cousin) and this is 100% a one time bad fukk up on his part. Ray Rice isnt the sharpest knife in the drawer, he's had a slight drinking problem for a bit...but he's one of if not the best community guy in the league. He's done more for his high school than any athlete thats come out of this area in forever. Ben Gordon is a deadbeat for instance...He's a genuine good guy imo who made a really bad mistake....and the main component of it was alcohol. Call me biased or whatever still how I feel.

There have been a lot more bad seeds in this league that have beaten up women without being under the influence of anything other than rage and being a shyt human. The league definitely took this into consideration when punishing Rice. Goodell is also from Bronxville which is close to New Ro where Ray is from...it being a local issue to Goodell probably helped his cause too.

But you really don't know what happened. No one does. I don't believe there were any physical aberrations. No blood, swelling, cuts etc. For all we know, she was hitting him and he pushed her and she hit her head. Yea, he dragged her out of the elevator, but we're passing judgement like we're certain he went Tyson on her. Dude is an NFL running back. If he was punching her, he probably would have broken her face up pretty bad.

\.

Then stop right there, you admit the video is really bad and you clearly know why it's treated different than Marshall, Hardy or the ton of other players who have done this.

See you say THE REPORTS. People can deny a report, there is no guarantee a report happened. This is why it's not treated the same.

You already know this though

I'd say that's pretty sad then. We only care when we can pat ourselves on the back. I get the sense people are enjoying killing Rice because they can artificially feel better about themselves. But hey, Greg Hardy wasn't on video...who cares about that. Brandon Marshall's been arrested 5 times for domestic abuse, but that wasn't on video...don't care about that either.

Ya'll dont give a fukk about domestic violence...you just like hearing yourself talk.

I work with domestic violence victims on a daily basis, speak for yourself not others.

You just don't want to live in real expectations.

Allegations and arrests on suspicion will never be treated as harshly as when you can see someone do something with your own two eyes

:what:

umm, the POINT is, everyone talking down on him isnt exactly on the up & up themselves.

And you know this how?

Or are you, once again, creating scenarios and situations about peoples lives?

Is sports journalist a job where a lot of criminals get into to cover up their treachery?

Stop being stupid. Is ANY job a safe haven for criminals? There are bad ppl in every profession.

Go find me a blameless individual w/ the right to talk down on others and then I'll consider your lame argument.

You're the one creating degrees of right & wrong. Right is right, wrong is wrong.

I've never punched a woman, but that doesnt give me the right to talk down on Ray Rice.

I can find a lot of people who don't beat their wife.

Those people are better than the ones that do.

There are degrees of right and wrong, if you don't think so that's disturbing.

"Hey we're all sinners somehow, give the guy a break"

But which one of these gives YOU the right to talk down on someone else?

Report the story, say he made a mistake, keep it moving.

"Well, I do wrong stuff...but at least I'm not as bad as that guy" :camby:

People really dont understand that the reason this is gettin so much attention is because of the video? :snoop:

So if there was a video of Tom Brady draggin Gisele's unconscious body off an elevator after he just knocked her the fukk out this would be gettin less media coverage? :sas1:

Actually the shyt would have never gotten out because the video would have been erased.......ask Big Ben.
