you dont understand science to the point that you would rather choose a lifestyle that humans followed 2000 years ago over factual information based on science

if you picked up a book other than the bible you might be able to learn something that could help humanity or society, instead you choose to just exist and let god take care of everything for you like a wittle baby.

Don't Christians believe they learn morals from God? Shouldn't God's morals make sense to us? Doesn't the Bible assign God human qualities like anger, love and jealousy? Weren't humans made in God's image?

1) Yes
2) Not necessarily. God is an all-encompassing being responsible for all of creation. It's crazy to think all of His actions would make sense to us. But if you don't mind, could you be more specific? Which of His morals don't make sense to you?
3) Yes, but even though the Bible was inspired by God, it was written by humans for humans in a way that humans could compute. And I'm not trying to be petty by arguing semantics and whatnot but if anything, humans were given God-like qualities. We were made in his image. Not the other way around.
4) Sorry, I jumped ahead and answered this question with #3. Even though, we were made in his image, that doesn't mean we received all of his qualities or knowledge out the gate. Some things need to be learned. Just like a child, just because they look like you and may be able to do some of things you do on a smaller scale, they're not you.

1. if you were perfect, there'd be no point in existing as separate from "God". you'd be perfect. "God", as it were.

2. "God" doesn't send people to Hell. people send themselves.

3. We don't learn "morals" from "God". We learn "morals" from other people's perception of right and wrong as measured by how we feel about doing said actions, other people's reactions to said actions and how we feel about other peoples' reactions to our actions.

What about when the book says how you should treat your slaves or where you should get them from?

What about it?

The Jews owned slaves, and were slaves, and owned slaves, and were slaves, ad nauseum. No that doesn't mean I support slavery, nor would I ever want to own a slave; but if God doesn't mind turning His own "chosen" people over into slavery, I'm sure he's not stressing about them owning slaves themselves.

I agree with you on points 1 and 2,

So what do you classify the 10 commandments as?

Interesting.

I see where you're coming from with the first theory. But the second theory is a little too radical for me. I don't think the creation can be greater than it's creator, and it would be a detriment to the creation to try (look at Lucifer). Are you a Christian? What do you believe?

how can the creation not grow to be better than the creator? we have kids that we raise to be better than we were right?
same concept...
ive never really believed that the info in the bible was supposed to be taken literally...
i do believe it has some good info in there if applied in a certain manner...and is also used
for fear based control...

what i believe ...long story
ima break it down before i gotta go...

Moms: Creole Cuban(Fla.) + Black ...she choose to be Islamic at the time of my birth
Pops: Mohawk Indian(NY) + Black....Christianity

as a child i went to the church and the mosque....so i automatically believed that Allah(GOD)...was Jesus father
so far so good....

as i grew up this sh!t became complicated...because society wanted me to choose one over the other...
which made me realize something fishy was going on...

so as a teen the Nation of Gods and Earths schooled me...which made me lean more islamic but overall the most valuable gem
i learned was from my Brother Knowledge The God RIP

"Dont believe none of this shyt because i study this or because you look up to me....do your own research and what you find useful you keep
and what you dont throw it away"

fast forward i realized that within my own DNA lies truth...from the Voodoo mama creole side
and shamannism papa Mohawk side....

i know this is alot but ima end it off by saying even with all this
at the end of the day sometimes its ok to just pray

I think a lot of people need to get out of the habit of thinking that although we ALL know the bible (and every Holy Text you can find) was written and rewritten by Man....

and stop the dumb shyt of saying "Well if God wrote it all, then this is hypocritical."

You really think if there were an almighty God that he wouldn't want you eating shrimp? Wearing Dresses (women)? Would he really want five thousand skins off uncircumsized dikks?

:heh: you got it all wrong. But it's not up to me to say that.

Thanks for telling me how I live my life, even though you know nothing about me.

Also what "factual information based on science" am I supposed to be following? I try to eat 3-5 servings of fruits and veggies a day so that I'm not malnourished...I wear sunscreen to prevent skin cancer...I don't go outside when it's chilly without a coat to prevent a cold/flu. I watch the weather channel occasionally (meteorology is a science).

I'm also planning on starting school again in the summer to pursue a Nursing degree. Lots of helping and and reading and science going on in that field, so I've heard. :stopitslime:

you dont even understand how sickness is spread, but you want me to listen to your theories on how god is a real thing?

lose some of the confidence pal, you could learn a lot of things by just being a little more open minded, its not important to be right all the time

I agree with you on points 1 and 2,

So what do you classify the 10 commandments as?

The 10 Commandments.

The second time God made Man according to the bible, he told them how to live good, then told them don't eat from The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

They did it.

One of the things they were cursed with was Shame.

Fast forward a bit later. Cain killed Abel out of jealousy and Anger. God doled out the punishment. Cain didn't want to deal with the consequences.

Fast Forward a bit later. Moses is bringing down The Stone Tablets.

Morals weren't established or taught to Man by God. That's a misconception.

A sense of "right and wrong (shame)" was gained by eating from The Tree of Knowledge. i.e. being naked was "wrong".

It certainly didn't start with The Ten Commandments. Man was fukked up long before the fact, or there wouldn't have been a "Wrong" to judge Egypt against, or even any of that "Pre-Flood" stuff.

I like this post..it was A-1, I love the bolded green, and your last sentence.

But I have to disagree with your first sentence. As a mother myself, I plan on raising my daughter to be better than me because I will teach her to avoid my mistakes. I don't think God makes mistakes so how can we be better than him when we are inherently flawed creatures.

To all the other posters in this thread: I'm not trying to come off like I know it all, or even most of it. But ask yourself, out of all of the religions in the world, why is Christianity so pervasive. Out of all the religions that have ever existed. If we're weak-minded sheep for believing in God, why does it irk you so much?

I dunno man. If you don't know what's wrong here we'll leave it there.

lmao, dude, you really need to pick up some books, christianity spread because powerful christians nations at one point where going into other places and forcing everyone to become christian or they would kill them.

as far as the "weak minded sheep" comment, you kinda keep proving you aren't very knowledgable about science or history and you have a tendency to fall back on believing old wives tales or things that sound logical in your head without researching those ideas at all.

Thanks for the link.

:ohhh: Colds are spread by viruses and germs, but it was also stated in the slide show that these viruses and germs are more easily transferred and live longer during cold weather, which is why some deduce that a person is more susceptible to colds during cold weather.

I always though it was the actual cold weather that made you sick though. Thanks for sharing the wealth (knowledge).
