To all the other posters in this thread: I'm not trying to come off like I know it all, or even most of it. But ask yourself, out of all of the religions in the world, why is Christianity so pervasive. Out of all the religions that have ever existed. If we're weak-minded sheep for believing in God, why does it irk you so much?

every religion has it's doubters.

but it's really not up to anyone to say who's right or wrong.

Cause everyone is.

lmao, dude, you really need to pick up some books, christianity spread because powerful christians nations at one point where going into other places and forcing everyone to become christian or they would kill them.

as far as the "weak minded sheep" comment, you kinda keep proving you aren't very knowledgable about science or history and you have a tendency to fall back on believing old wives tales or things that sound logical in your head without researching those ideas at all.
Pick up what books?

I like this post..it was A-1, I love the bolded green, and your last sentence.

But I have to disagree with your first sentence. As a mother myself, I plan on raising my daughter to be better than me because I will teach her to avoid my mistakes. I don't think God makes mistakes so how can we be better than him when we are inherently flawed creatures.

And at the end of the day Sistren....neither one of us is right nor wrong...your beliefs and your path is what guides you
our experiences can not be shared so why do we think that our beliefs can be shared?

we are all figuring this thing out at our own pace and path....

i learned a few lessons from atheist as well...i was deployed to iraq on my first tour
and i met a kool white dude from Oregon very intellegent...this was in 07 08 so we debated about politics
racism etc. Obama Ron Paul Bush....this guy even put me on to Zeitgeist....taught me to play acoustic guitar...
but he was atheist and while on a convoy one day.. when a few of our vehicles were hit by an ied...
luckily we didnt catch the worst of that blast....i asked him....why dont u believe in GOD?

and he said look at this shyt bro...babies gettin raped and burned and unspeakable atrocities being done
how can a GOD let this happen??

history, science, a good (not religious) novel, any kind of book really. if you want to be religious thats cool, but your education about the world should not be religious based.

I feel like you're trying to put me in a box. Just because I'm a Christian making a post about Christianity doesn't mean I don't have any other interests. I'm a complex, living, breathing human being the same way you are. And my vision may be a little blurred because its coming from a Christian perspective but how is that any different than you being a black man and seeing things from a Black man's perspective. I consider myself a pretty empathetic person and I understand how and why a person can be an atheist. I'm just offering y'all a different perspective (my perspective). Take it or leave it or discuss it or whatever. By talking with y'all in this thread, even you, I learned somethings that I may not have learned and considered some things that I may not have considered if I had never created this thread. And maybe I'm a little misguided and not as worldly and learn-ed as you but don't try to write me off as an idiot because of my beliefs, and I'll return the favor.

I don't respect your beliefs.

Don't expect me to.

I respect your right to have those beliefs...but your beliefs are inconsistent and when appropriate, i'll point that out.

It's not a good point. Why would a being that detests evil admit an unreformed criminal/sinner into their domain?

It's not about "protecting" anyone. It's about punishing evil and rewarding good. If everyone could just do whatever they wanted and still get into heaven, what's the point of even believing in God?

Getting to heaven should not be your reason to believe in and follow god

But the fact that god is merciful contradicts the idea that evil is punished and good is rewarded. In theory, a morally good person could go to hell for simply not believing, and a person who raped and murdered others most of their lives can go to heaven for simply saying they're sorry. If someone killed your family, but truly regretted it and apologized to the state (note, not apologized to you or anyone they directly harmed), would you think it's right for them to not endure any punishment? This is what, I think, Christianity says happens after you die.
