First of all, the guy is 38 and he just suffered an extremely severe injury. An injury that has ended careers of athletes much younger than him. I understand being a fan but damn, do you want to see him fukk himself up for life just so you could later say some shyt like: "Oh, well I really thought he could come back but I guess his body just can't handle that type of pressure anymore
"? Do you really think a leg that had both the tibia AND the fibula completely broken in half will ever be as strong as it was before?
Especially at 38 years old?
What do you think will happen when he throws that same kick again a couple of times and it gets checked? If he's lucky and it doesn't get broken in the same way again you better believe he'll suffer some fractures. On top of that, the muscles and ligaments in that leg will never have the strength and flexibility that they once did which will open up the floodgates for other injuries such as blown out knees and ACL tears.
And furthermore, anybody with two eyes could see that even before the break Anderson had mentally checked out. I don't care if I get hate for this but he simply looked stunned.
Anybody that follows combat sports such as boxing, kickboxing, or MMA knows that a fighter's decline is rapid. It literally takes a couple of fights for somebody to go from looking untouchable to being over the hill - especially at that age. Anderson is the GOAT up until this point. He's had an amazing career and has nothing left to prove.
There is nobody that's putting Weidman over him in the all-time rankings when it comes down to it. He is not a poor and hungry Brazilian with a chip on his shoulder any more. He will not bounce back from this the way you want him to. Just let it go.
