Why would you pay money to be in the audience for a talk show?

Like I’m not hating I’m legit curious. Like you find Jimmy Fallon that funny you gotta see him live?
Are there benefits I’m not seeing? I know Chadwick Boseman met with the audience on Fallon but I thought that was a one off. The more I think of it and the hosts out there, they should be paying you (which I can imagine probably happens)

I was in the audience of SNL once, it was free. but this back in like 98 when i was kid so i could be mistaken.
