This is the main reason I became an expat. You make over 80K you pay hella taxes but in big cities it ain't enough to get a house much less raise a family on. Half of that money and you're balling abroad.

As I keep saying: anyone who isn't talking about organizing is wasting your time.

The bankers are the audience. Big tech is the matador and politicians are the cape. Guess who the bull is?

All that matters is the power that people have. The reason you have a 5 day work week, social security, etc. Is because much of America's economic activity was in the hands of people who owned factories, mines and railroads. The workers organized together and demanded better working conditions. For every day they weren't working, billions in revenue was being lost.

Cloud computing= the new railroad
Service industry= the new factories
Software= the new mines.

Service industry workers need to unionize. Tech workers need to unionize. If this doesn't happen, the owners of these platforms and titans in those industry can and will do whatever the fukk they want. Your only bargaining chip is also your strongest: labor.

TLDW: Our economy is propped up by 10% of Americans.

in the aggregate maybe. but it is also propped up by the other 90%. just a 1% shift in economic growth is significant. even if the 90% spend a small minority, if they stopped contributing to GDP the country would fall into a recession, possibly depression.

We could all lose our jobs tomorrow and our economy would still be growing because our spending power is that low compared to the ultra wealthy.

GDP might grow, for a while but then big corps would start to fail.

Citibank has a study back in 2005 essentially saying that they should be slowly focusing on ONLY selling to rich people, because they will be the only ones with money.

That's a bank. Holding your bank deposits which gives the bank operating capital and stability. Without those there would be no one employed there to sell to the rich.

It's very likely we won't even get a chance to have a progressive president get a New Deal type situation going, if the Republicans truly go full dictatorship like they have heavily implied:picard:
dictatorships only work when the common people eat
the Chinese will overthrow their leader if the people suffer enough (i.e. famine) and they never been a democracy
even the Nazis made sure the German economy boomed before they started invading and genociding

Large scale homelessness is the consequence if they keep operating on that premise.
Oh, I'm sure the favelas and mass homelessness is coming. My issue is, they want to own everything and subsequently criminalize homelessness so you can't even escape the system.

I think it's the same in Kenya.
$1,000,000 USD in Kenya is like $130,000,000 in their currency.
I'm technically already "very wealthy" by Kenyan standards :laff:
If I go anywhere it'll probably be Kenya or Uganda high key.
