"Wicca" is a self proclaimed practice while being called a "Witch" is a designation ...similar to being designated a barbarian, heretic, pagan, etc.
What's being talked about here is the practice of wicca originating in the 30's-40's. Folks can call someone else a "Witch" for any'ol reason.
For example as previously stated...
From I read, them chicks were not even witches. Basically women being accused of shyt because they fukked someone husband or kept to themselves.
Actually the guy had a different name from witch or wicca for generic "spiritualist" in Britain prior to wicca.
