All context considered regarding Pedro (especially in that division with those ballparks in that era) that’s probably the highest peak of any starting pitcher ever.

Pedro was laughably ahead of his competition in 99-00.

Just look at his numbers where he’s 1, and then 2 through 5.

In the 73’ NCAA championship game, Bill Walton scored 44 on 21 of 22 shooting from the field.

2 years after OJ ran for over 2,000 yards, he had 2,243 yards from scrimmage and 23 TDs in 14 games. He averaged 143 yards rushing per game in 73’ and 160.2 yards from scrimmage per game in 75’.

In a 72’ game against the Colts, Joe Namath completed 15 passes for 496 yards and 6 TDs.

I don’t know if it’s in this thread already, but Sammy Sosa hitting 60+ homers three times in his career (a major league record) but didn’t lead the league in homers any of those 3 seasons. Im pretty confident that there’s no chance we’ll ever see that happen again.
Who was ahead, McGwire, McGwire, Bonds?

This stat isn’t that wild, but Derrick Rose never once scored 30pts in a regular season game as a rookie. His very first playoff game, he ties the rookie record for most points scored in his playoff debut with 36pts.

Emmitt Smith carrying the ball 4,409 times, not including receptions and not including playoff stats.

Most dudes nowadays will be completely broken with half the usage he had. He avoided hits yet was a physical runner which is a RARE combination. Walter Payton was the only other breh that could do that. Every other back is either more elusive/less physical or very physical/less elusive.
