Will America ever fall in love with muslims the same way they did with the Japanese?

all the XBOX 1 and PS4 threads are making me wonder why the coli had a missed opportunity discussing the rivarly of Japan and America :patrice:
i don't play games but back in the ps1 vs xbox days. sony barely beat microsoft and the gaps been closing since. i think by this xbox 1 sony will be knocked off. but it took a lot of money in microsoft's part to have that accomplished.

the rival btwn sony and sega was kinda fair. even though sony was much larger than sony went they went into gaming. but sega was too small to fight sony. when sony knocked off sega microsoft came in. and put the same pressure on sony like sony did sega. but sony has limited pockets competing with ms.
i dont' remember whether ms came in during ps one or ps2 cause i rreally don't give a fuq. anyway, the console wars were on. sony and ms going at it. sony trying to use their brand name to beat microsoft. sony tried using their patriotism sh1t on japanese companies to only make games for sony. they managed to get final fantasy to only make exclusive games for the playstation. but microsoft countered with letting game manufacturers make games for free on their platform (sony was taxing niccas). that kinda fuqqed the japs up. the smaller companies said fuq patriotism cause they couldn't compete with the namco's over there and produced games for the xbox. despite the money ms was putting on the xbox they still weren't selling consoles in japan.
over here in the u.s, the competition was free market. but in japan the culture there was hating hard on the xbox. on some programing sh1t though making games for the xbox was much easier than for the playstation.
ms usually makes wack software (and hardware) but the only product they refused to let fail was the xbox. they put a lot of money behind it.
sony and the playstation had more advantage internationally cause of the PAL system and a much wider variety in games than microsoft. xbox had the halo series and that was pushed hard. sony and the japs they like the racing and fighting games. but microsoft's inhouse halo went hard. on the programming tip it was good as the nintendo games.
speaking of nintendo all this time nintendo had been surviving the console wars cause they were the ones innovating instead of playing politics. their stupid as kid games were selling. they knew how to capture kids with games like legend of zelda. on the programming tip they had it down too.

it's also important to note that the military industrial complex starting placing advertisements in the halo games to subconsciously recruit gamers. the world was in chaos over wars and the m.i.c said why not. sony still fuqqin around with grand turismo when the m.i.c. was going hard on fps games. i don't know whether now or then sony has their inhouse fps. but ms did with haloand that was helping them fight the console wars.

by ps3 i wasn't really interested in even knowing whats goin on with gaming.

but before i sign out i gotta mention EA sports.. they helped microsoft. ea sports being canadian they didn't wanna get caught in the bs. they just wanted to make money. and the sports games really helped the xbox out.

along these console wars ms funded and bought smaller japanese companies.

the king of gaming though i'd have to crown nintendo.

might be errors in this one-take but i don't care to go correct them. cause i dont really give a fuq about gaming.

:damn breh you went in!!! didn't know about all of this history god damn!! :damn:

on a side note i was mentioning this in another thread but would it not be beautiful one day to see African named businesses eventually be as recognizable as hearing the Japanese sounding "Nintendo" "Mitsubishi" "Toyota" "Suziki' "NIssan" :wow:

Yuna doesn't just make music but also runs a fashion boutique where she sells funky but modest clothes.

Autumn de Wilde
Award-winning singer Yuna is already a star in her native Malaysia, where she has been on the rise since her debut in 2008. She's also an observant Muslim and an entrepreneur. Yuna runs a fashion boutique that sells funky but modest clothes that meet the requirements of her faith. And while she's climbing the American charts with her new album, Nocturnal, she's not compromising her style or her religion. "I'm a Muslim. I don't try to hide it," Yuna says. "I'm also a girl who loves music."

Yuna spoke with Tell Me More host Michel Martin about her music, her heritage and her faith.

Interview Highlights
On life as a Muslim "pop star"

When I first started playing music, I was already covered ... wearing headscarves. And, like, normally, people would expect you to change, toss this part of your life away so that you could be a pop star. But I just wanted to make music, not really be a "pop star" pop star. And there's always people who wouldn't necessarily agree with what I'm doing right now. But ... I'm really happy with where I am right now, you know. I'm a Muslim. I don't try to hide it. I'm also a girl who loves music. And I don't try to hide that as well.

On the risk of reaching to the U.S.

I was doing quite well in Malaysia. ... Everyone was so excited about my music, and they started accepting me as an artist. And coming out here was like taking a risk. But it's something that I really wanted to do for a very long time. Like, I need to do something with my English music. ... Coming out here kind of enabled me to experiment with a lot of different music, and I really wanted to come up with music that the whole world could relate to.

1. ps1 went against nintendo 64 and had a decent victory, ps2 went against gamecube and xbox, and had a massive victory, literally the most successful console of all time, ps3 ended up pretty much tying with 360 while nintendo sold more hardware by appealing to casual gamers who would eventually move on to iphone games

2. sony's inhouse FPS is killzone

3. nintendo is no longer the king of gaming. as of right now, there is none. gaming is headed to a point where the hardware is becoming a commodity like the PC where console manufacturers become less important, and multiplatform games are the norm (both ps4 and xbox one are x86 CPU systems, making ports for the two consoles and PC much easier)

4. that being said, i do predict the PS4 will pull away and win this gen, with nintendo selling wii u at a worse rate than the gamecube

it'd be interesting to see what happens with ps4, xbox one and pc platforms. i don't know what the game consoles hardware is anymore but i think this will be the end of pc gaming considering how much pc hardware is..

i dont think pc gaming will ever die. in the short term, as long as 1080p remains the common standard for most people's monitors, pc graphics power will become less important. i think a couple years from now, pc game requirements will plateau until more of the market is ready to move up to 4k, which will be a long time from now

but on the pc end software isn't even taking advantage of the hardware. pc monitors are tvs now. 1080p is standard. only pc enthusiasts care about top end hardware like titans. pc gaming doesn't require "enthusiast hardware".
i haven't thought of game consoles get into steam or steam makes their own hardware. i've been on 4k for 2 years now (no gaming). powered by 2 7950's (for the heck of it. no gaming).
when i've gamed there's no difference the way i play on 4k or windowed mode 1280x800 (cause there's more important things i'd rather be watching than gaming. and the game plays better at lower resolutions because it isn't pushing as much pixels.

so that's why i say pc gaming days are numbered as game consoles get more powerful. one of these gpus is the cost of a game console.

1080p is the point. it does not take much to push a 1080p screen, so the expense for pc gaming is not a big problem for most pc gamers, and it only gets easier over time to run a game at 1080p for cheap. think about how easy it is to run a game at 480p with onboard graphics. those standards get easy over time.

the elite pc game rig customer has always been a niche, they never really dictated the way most of the industry went. the biggest pc games usually tended to be games that scaled well on a diverse range of systems, like games from blizzard. with sony and MS going x86 and still struggling to hit 1080p/60frams per second, they are still a notch below a common, $500 pc gaming rig. the xbox 1 costs $500, so the price advantage is dwindling while the performance catches up at a slower pace.

the typical pc gamer spending $500 on ssingle graphics cards is trying to run 1080p/60fps at ultra settings, or 1440p/60fps at high settings. i spent around $650 for a gtx 780 so i could max out to ultra settings but only at 1080p/60fps. now the price has dropped considerably on that. the card has not even been on the market for a year. it just keeps getting easier to meet that standard.

i also have a ps4 and some games are 1080p/60fps, but not all of them, and the textures dont look as good as pc either.

You're wrong though. The PC indie gaming market is expanding year over year with greenlight, kickstarter and soon to be steambox. In emerging markets like China/India they dont even fukk with consoles at all. They just play league of legends and shyt. The PS4 and Xbox One selling less in the same time frame than the PS3/360 did, for example. Nintendo is irrelevant.

The reason is that development and production costs keep going up and up for consoles and their games, but aren't seeing an according explosion in software or hardware sales. The PC market is a lot leaner and flexible, so these indie development houses will last longer. Not too far from now games is gonna be like movies; just huge summer blockbusters and small art house shyt.

My boy @NZA summed shyt up nicely though :banderas:
