like my main man kbadd said, when nbc launched their network, nothing is moving espn off the block until you get some of these sports contracts. a major conference basketball or football contract is a good start, then possibly bid for nfl and nba down the road. nobody is switching it up and turning to a new network for a couple of personalities

ESPN won a bidding war with Fox over Bomani. Good for Bomani...

Bomani Jones signs new deal with ESPN - SBNation.com
The latest bidding war between ESPN and the upstart Fox Sports 1 has gone to the Worldwide Leader. Bomani Jones has signed with ESPN in a four-year deal finalized on Thursday, according to sources close to the situation.

Jones had been negotiating with Fox for some time before ESPN made a late push to keep Jones, a frequent Around the Horn panelist and guest on Dan Le Batard is Highly Questionable, on the network for the immediate future.

His deal with ESPN will include all media, including online, radio, and television. His exact role at the network is undetermined, but continued work with Le Batard's show in Miami and further appearances on ATH seem likely bets for the present.

Prior to joining ESPN, Jones worked for SBNation.com, The Score, and wrote for ESPN.com while working on North Carolina talk radio.

even if they get them ain't nobody going anywhere. Face it people, the worldwide leader in sports is too ingrained in your hearts for any of y'all to let it go.

Dun-nu-nuh Dun-nu-nuh makes y'all fuzzy inside. :umad:

I don't think anyone will ever challenge ESPN for sports coverage. Yes the network has fallen off but most of the people that complain about it, myself included will turn to their favorite sports official network. My favorite sport is Baseball so instead of watching ESPN and sitting through NFL news in May I can just turn on the MLB network. If you don't like Baseball you can turn on the NFL,NBA, or NHL network. ESPN is good for a quick sports fix or for the casual sports viewer and I don't think anyone will challenge that. The only way someone will challenge ESPN is if they get at least two major sports to go to there network to air games.

the Big 10 will goto Fox. Fox already runs/owns the Big 10 Network

...as far as the thread is concerned, didnt fox try to get at espn about a decade ago and got their asses handed to them?

yup, altho that was different. They tried to buy up local sports channels and have them under the Fox Sports Network umbrella. no 24 hour sports channel tho.

and to answer this thread, no.

ESPN is to sports broadcasting like Band-Aid for treating cuts.

yeah but fox sports has rupert murdoch/newscorp behind them.

Guess I misunderstood the question. .. by crush I assumed run out of business. Which is what I meant. They not going anywhere because abc/disney will prop them up if needed. Thats all not saying fox sports cant do well because I watch a lot of fox sports they show all the Grizzlies games.

If they don't follow Espn tmz style of reporting I can see them getting a nice audience.

First off, I like that other networks are trying to compete with the big bad ESPN. I just think they aren't positioning themselves correctly.

Yea they are stealing away a lot of ESPN'S female talent. Is that hard? No. Everyone know ESPN has a Frat-like atmosphere and females fell they are harassed a lot there. You can only imagine.

When competing in sports, the 1st thing to win or make noise in before your network is your print. Yahoo is the 2nd most popular outside of ESPN, but to me have shytty writers. They get natural traffic based of there search engine. Where NBC first failed, was keeping up with yahoo in the 90's as far as search engines go. Now NBCSports fell off despite a great overlay of how they present there sports(NFLTALK, MLBTALK Etc.) They are #11...fukkin 11, even behind SportingNews & YardBreaker lmao. But NBCSports lands Soccer later this year which is a huge pickup, but they get nothing outside of that. But I cant hate, because thats 1 better than nothing which they had before

Foxsports to me spent too much time concentrating on there satellites than FoxSports main. FoxSports could verywell be right next to ESPN. They have baseball, they have a main network in FOX and a shyt load of satellites offering local programming. If they put more focus on FoxSports One and made it more of a hub with highlight like programming along with game of the day/week. They would kill. They already have a shytload of college contracts, NHL, MLB, NBA. There is no excuse for FoxSports. Stupid shyt like losing EPL is damaging. There channels shoulda been:

Fox Sports One
FX Highlights(which goes in game in some of the satellite games not offered nationwide)
Fox Soccer
The rest of FoxSports Satellites

They also have a shytty overlay when it comes to there website. They should concentrate on getting good names, respectable writers and bite into ESPN's chunk. Now they are losing programing to NBC and CBS which shouldn't happen

Where FoxSports failed, others will, they were our only hope for great competitive sports tv.

The "Fox Sports" that you are thinking about will be still showing the Grizzlies games in your area and not be changing. Fox Sports 1 will be a DIFFERENT station that will show national programming. (The current SPEED channel will be turning into Fox Sports 1)
