Over the past year, the #MeToo movement has exposed abuses by powerful men, some of whom have committed sexual assault and other types of gender-related violence in a wide array of industries, including media, entertainment, and government. At the same time, however, men accused of physical and sexual violence against women have continued to find breakout success in hip-hop music, including XXXTENTACION, 6ix9ine, Kodak Black, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again. Hip-hop has a long history of complicity in this area, and it begs the question: will rap’s #MeToo moment ever arrive?

i dont think this is really a #metoo moment, breh did his assault-y, got checked, and went to jail for it x 2

a #metoo moment would be if people in the music industry got their shyt checked like hollywood did, after years of people ignoring it and letting it slide

i feel like not only rap, but rock too, i think rembrandt or some other breh made a very good point in the r.kelly spotify thread about all the shady pedo style shyt rockers did for years back in the 70s that just got glossed over

Is there a chance for successful Black people to have their legacies destroyed, potentially go to prison, and lose most or all of their money? Then absolutely it will come.
