On a mainstream level, like being the jimmy iovines or lyors, or do you think they'll forever be owned by the system?

What are some ways to solve this problem?

No because nikkas dont wanna build shyt from the ground up anymore. Its very possible for us to take back our culture, but nikkas want overnight success and to be flyin in 1st class jets, so they can stunt on other black people on the gram. The only way for them to do that is to bend over for whitey, so no. It wont happen.

Never. Thats like asking someone how can they win in corporate America without having to go corporate.

Can Cam Newton ever liberate himself from the NFL industry? same answer.

You're telling me having rich sex and diamonds on diamonds on top of riding in a private jet that you don't own, isn't worth as much as what we could have?

i don't think you understand, your analogies are all wrong, you can win in corporate America without going corporate you can start you own shyt and with the cam analogy, cam needs the nfl to make big money you can't be a football player and go "independent". In the rap game you can release some fire in your basement and ya song can pop overnight.

No.

Its like new athletes making the same mistakes.

You're always gonna eat off the young, dumb, and desperate.

The only hope is for the elders who truly care to guide them.

i dont think the average aspiring rapper looks at shyt in this way. What i mean by that is that for a movement like this to happen, the concept of hiphop being something that was originally ours and taken over by "others" has to start trending. Dudes are gonna have to want to do this for the future and well-being of hiphop itself. This means sacrifice and putting in harder work. I doubt younger cats who have no sense of history will be willing to do this or even think to WANT to do this in the first place.

yeah they will

days of the mega star are over with drake being the last.

instead of the pie being split between 100 people it will be spread between 1000.

less money for individual stars unless they tour heavily but better for everyone in the end.

more people get a chance to make it.

photographers, music writers, directors, ect have more work to go around.

but most importantly the fans win...what a time to be alive.

you can never win in corporate America without going corporate. Once you are publicly traded (corporate) they can out you in a heartbeat.

Never has an artist "popped overnight" and had a respectable career without going corporate same with an artist going "independent". Thats why Kanye said there are new slaves. Its not possible in any industry whether music, fashion...etc. Thats why TI, Puffy..etc. continue to deal with the majors because they understand how to truly be successful in this industry.

Name an artist that is truly independent or not corporate enjoying legitimate success.

Ask Jay-Z. Dame Dash had a chance to make Rocafella records a purely independent Black label, and break away from Def Jam, but Jigga said no :sas2:

will they have had their own distribution? No.

They would never be purely independent.
