Obviously he isn't the most amazing rapper to ever touch the mic, but he did have some influence on having hip hop be more accepted by the masses. Whether that is a good or a bad thing is a different subject I'm not going to get into, but the influence is still there. I like how he was just one of the first emcees to not take himself too seriously and try to be a rapping ass rapper and focused on the songwriting and making the songs entertaining. You can see how rappers have been taking that approach more and more lately.
Honestly, if you ever put on his albums they were pretty decent. Just some nice fun loving party type shyt. Code Red, He's The DJ I'm the rapper, and Homebase are great summer time albums. Big Willie Style had gems. I guess it's the cool thing to clown on him or anyone that likes his music, but he was aiiight
