He wasn't hired to do stand up at the Oscars he was hired to present an award. Oscar representatives said his jokes weren't in the script and even after the situation with Will and Jada. One of those 3 men, who was not white, called him out on it.

Still does'nt change the fact that Chris is a comedian and it was jokes

Will could have went to Chris backstage or even after the event and been like "Bro I wasn't feeling that joke, Jada got some health issues going on right now and...you know...da da da da da"

And knowing that they're both in Hollywood and public figures, they could have done it aside from the cameras, aside from paparazzi...

At most we would have found out about it weeks or months down the line and it'd have been a "Oh shyt Will had to check Chris Rock" thread that would have fizzled out because it might not have even been true.

Instead he tried to play hero, using Chris Rock as a target, and ended up looking like a simp and losing the respect of a lot of his peers

What Will did back there was definitely wrong, so I'm glad he's owning up to it. That behavior was unacceptable.
Will Smith has been black excellence for the last 30+ years though, so I'm not throwing his whole legacy away on one mistake.
I just hope Will gets the help he needs and that he and Chris can work out their differences.
