I would class that as a pretty authentic performance.
For an apology recorded on a set with multiple cameras, cameramen, sound people, lighting, set dressers, PAs and answering pre-picked questions from who knows where probably hand-picked or re-written if not completely written by PR people and publicists.
Even if he means everything he said, which he might, they still can't help but make everything they do a performance.
