Racism isn't rare. I see it in every aspect of life. When i see perfume/cologne commercials or movies with the same white lead with a 5 o clock shadow for my entire life, when i head over to any high end neighborhood and see only whites and some asians, when i see the ownership of almost every successful organization being white, when i notice the stereotypes and fetishizations associated with blacks. Blacks are infinitely marginalized in society, all those years of dehumanization we've suffered has left us at a huge disadvantage both in society and in the image portrayed of us. when you're a dude like will and you sold out to hollywood in order to gain your spot i can see how you may forget this.

The only people in society who walk around with a clean slate and are judged only by who they are and how they carry themselves are whites. Everyone else has racist stereotypes working against them and blacks have it the worst. Half of will's work plays to stereotypes.

powerful, underrated post. I wish i could give more daps :blessed::blessed::blessed::blessed::blessed::blessed::blessed::blessed:

For WILL SMITH racism is actually rare because he is RICH and FAMOUS. I'll say this the more money you have and as a Black person you start moving in different circles people just treat you different its like your money is seen first. It's kind of hard to describe, you have to experience it. People are nicer....it's easy to forget that struggle....

The easiest way to have that "feeling" is to travel abroad...

I don't think it's rare, but to be fair, Will has had a different life than most those who claim to experience racism.

prime example, most inner city young blacks feel they are under racism due to prejudice police. maybe will had that experience in philly but since hitting the silver screen, I don't think he's had those experiences or if he does he writes them off.

but fukk what any superstar, athlete or famous person says on issues in this country. they know they can't say shyt but what's expected or they'll be kicked out asap.

Danny Glover and Bill Cosby had issues getting cabs in new York in the 90's cause they was black!!!

I bet ya pacman jones still feels racism when he's hanging out!!! if you have a driver and not at regular spots then you don't see it. but if you still keeping it normal as a celebrity or athlete you still feel the struggle.

but when you ain't a stereotype white and black people alike tell you that you ain't black enough! if you don't fit in a small box your blackness comes into question all damn day. don't forget that as well!
