He has never played a villian. Now he gone play a swagged out drug lord out of nowhere.
He didnt want to play D'jango because it was too violent but doesnt Mind playing a murderous kingpin
That movie has no memories moments at all. Will Smith choose a white man over Spike Lee brehs. I don't remmy any great scenes in Ali. When I heard Will plays Ali so I thought it was perfect for him until the film came out.
. It likes something is missing about that film but you can't figure it out.
They wrote and played Ali too seriously. Ali was very funny and enjoyed clowning around.
That didn’t come across in the movie. Spike would have done a much better job.
I noticed that also.
That was the character Ali played in public. He was a human, he wasn't always clowning around in private.
Spike Lee would have 100% done a better job but the problems with Ali weren’t Will Smith or ANY of the performances honestly. Will, Jamie Foxx, and Jon Voight all did phenomenal jobs.
the issue with Ali was pacing and the fact that film lacked a certain “soul” that I feel only black directors can bring to black historical films. Its the same issue I have with Get On Up. Chadwicke Bosman acted his ASS OFF as did everyone else in the movie. Hell I thought Chadwicke was Oscsr worthy in his performance, the movie just lacked that certain “passion” and soul that a great black director would have injected into it.
Still for Ali it was a solid flick just not classic. Will wasn’t the problem

Nah I don't think it'll work, Will is a little too "soft" to be taken seriously in that kinda movie. I know, I know it's WILL SMITH but just because he's Will Smith that doesn't mean every role he plays is an automatic win.He's got some duds in catalog.
