This thread inspired me to finally hit the play on the album

That intro is dope as fukk that intro is real Hip-Hop :gladbron:

That intro is everything Eminem's fans loved about the Slim Shady character personified through Will Smith

The intro should've been worked into a song "and I ain't ever gonna forgive him for that shyt he did"
That was dope and shoulda been central to a song concept rather than just the intro

Second track sounds like it's written by Big Sean, it's alright but a little throwaway with some flash in the oan

If Will wants to rap he would be MUCH better off doing a movie where he's an older rapper trying to make a comeback than actually being the older rapper trying to comeback
Breh if I were Will Smith I'd fire somebody and be calling you immediately right now

That's the way right there

Three tracks in what I'm hearing here is uplifting raps laced with some Kabbalah sentiment

Which is cool because it's not all destructive his lyrics are subtly meant to build you up which is why there's a slightly preachy vibe to most of these raps

So far all the songs are overproduced in a way that you'd expect from somebody with a theatric background

But what's absolutely clear here is that he's approaching this project as a rapper and not as a pop artist they're almost so so far that doesn't seem to be any song produced for radio, although due to preachyness ... His raps come off as contrived

I have this same problem as a rapper

You can hear it in my song Flower Garden

I only have a few songs like this

People rap about subjects like this it's very close to reiterations of self-improvement mindset , he's basically sharing with you the environment of his mind. His mode of operation - if the premise of what you're sharing is essentially your way of doing things there's not really a way to go about that that's not going to come off as preachy

It's very clear even now with all of the success that Will Smith is a self-improver, albeit a gifted one to begin with

I see what he's doing but if I were him I would still like sneaking in a we're going back to Miami type song at some point during this run*

* Seems to be mentions in here about you about a 3 album thing or world tour?
What did he sign himself to himself? :skip:

I'm only 4 songs in

He's much more contemporary in the track with Joyner Lucas

Perhaps the next album can be filled with contemporary features, and just allow Will Smith to get into character on tracks. He will shine in this format
