In order for VR to be huge, it would need to be 100% 4D...

I'm talking like you actually enter a new world, you can actually feel things, smell things, you would think it's real...

We also overestimate how many people would want to actually spend all day in that world

The best experiences I've had with vr have been from games that weren't built specifically with VR in mind. Games like resident evil 7, fallout 4, skyrim, etc.

Full blown VR experiences are nice but end up feeling like gimmicky tech demos after awhile. VR will take off when the hardware is cheaper and you can buy something like call of duty or battlefield and play the entire game, including multiplayer, in VR.

seriously theyre gonna have to pare that shyt down to the size of eyeglasses, and lower the prices. plus it feels stupid tip-toeing around and acting shyt out. if it ever does go mainstream that's one area I might be left behind

For AR to work you'd need a big ass projector though and it's not touch PSVR2 graphics. Do you have a PS5 and OLED TV? If so, you'd know the graphics are very hard to beat. PSVR2 will be on that level. Where will AR be?

So how would that work with full blown games? 3DS works because it's a tablet. Sony & Xbox would need tablets and I ain't tryna do that at all. A project actually makes sense because you don't have to hold nothing up.

And I'm willing to bet money the immersion factor is nowhere near VR. I was reading about Skyrim VR and they was explaining how the shyt was so immersive.

AR is NOT touching VR.

I think the difference is, you're solely thinking about it from a gaming perspective. I'm thinking about it from an everyday usage perspective. For everyday stuff, I see AR being easier for people to adopt than VR.

Yeah AR would be easier since no helmet would be needed.

VR could do the same things though. For instance, Commercial and Residential real estate. An owner/architect could put on a VR helmet to look at the design. An engineer can look at all the plumbing/hvac/structural steel/ electrical systems.

How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
COVID/ quarantine/ lockdown was the chance for VR to get embraced in the mainstream.

and for whatever reason it didnt really get there.

Though I for one bought an Oculus during lockdown and still love it, something about it didnt quite stick.

I am not sure what the disconnect is/ was and why it felt short... it really is impressive/ fun technology and most people that experience, love it
I bought one, and I can honestly say, it is one of the coolest things that I have ever used, and love it, but NEVER find the time or desire to use it anymore. I was just talking about this to my wife the other day, I was getting ready for bed, looked over at it, told her how much I love it, and how cool it is, but never have the will to actually put it on anymore. :lupe:
