You from New York. I'm from the Bay.

I didn't listen to a Nas album until I was in my mid 20s :skip:

We was not listening to no What's Today's Mathematics rap in 2000s when I was in high school. 106 and Park, KMEL and Wild 94.9 dictated my hip-hop taste back then.

I'll answer. Say around 1988/9 or so up until 94-96

The Telecommunications Act of 1996 changed a lot. It allowed the labels to have a stronger hold on the game.

In order for NOI to gain resurgence in modern rap then NOI has to gain resurgence in black American culture at large. But it’s not. Traditional Islam is instead. Alhamdulillah. NOI are idol worshippers.
I was gonna say this. NOI doesn’t nearly have the presence it used to. When I was growing up they were all over the place selling the Final Call and bean pies. Now I rarely see them

Your biggest salesmen - Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, and W Deen Muhammad - all leaving for traditional Islam speaks volumes.

Neither was I.

But the NOI's influence was undeniable from most east coast classics.

you never listened to 90s rap? or late 80s rap?
