It is tbh, after it released every game copied it (for better or worst)

but call of duty 1 people were calling a copy of counter strike but you could prone in it so how can a game that you are saying is the most influential be influenced by another game (that by the way , world wide is just as popular and has a longer popularity run than call of duty)

Before you go down this road, Call of Duty 1 wasnt even on consoles

yall didnt get call of duty till call of duty 2

yall dont even know what call of duty with vehicles is like :pachaha: they tried to make it like battlefield 1942 with the original Call of Duty expansion

I will attempt to answer the question to this thread, and nobody can really disagree

The most influential FPS is Call of Duty.
Halo WAS the top dog when Halo 1 dropped, but not many if any games have came out that are similar
Destiny will be, but no other franchise really did what Halo was doing
Killzone tried, but it ended up being a different lesser animal

Once COD:MW1 hit, every FPS game tried to duplicate it.
Nobody is trying to duplicate GoldenEye, or any other game you dudes keep throwing around
COD in sony fanboy eyes killed off Killzone and Socom :wow:
Not even Halo killed off Killzone :bryan:

Just sayin :manny:

:usure:Games like Goldeneye set the blueprints for future games.

COD? :mjlol:

cant be influential if you 5 games deep (if you count expansions) they used counter strike blue print to begin with and just built off of that and people were saying they were biting battlefield 2 as well :yeshrug: Call of Duty was doing world war settings until Battlefield made the move to Modern Warfare first

Call of duty aint even allowed in this discussion to be honest, its kind of like the Jay-Z of video gaming, just kind of goes where the trend is and is successful at it

cod3 and cod4 werent made by the same companies..

at the time infinity ward made call of duty 1, 2 and 4. Treyarch did Call of Duty 3 and almost completely tanked the franchise.. Call of duty 4 saved the franchise and we are here we are at now.

Call of Duty 3 wasnt even released on PC :yeshrug: it was console only and almost killed the franchise (not even a stab at consoles, just real shyt)
Doesnt mean they didnt bite Modern Warfare from Battlefield 2 :yeshrug:

cod4 played nothin like cod2 either, shyt was entire different games, cod2 and cod3 was really similar games and played alike, both had big open fields online and wasnt twitch shooters, they didnt have much speed and was whatever, cod4 came out and changed all that shyt

shyt was one of the goat game trailers

:dwillhuh: yeah because Call of Duty 4 was a completely reworked game update... thats like saying Madden 20 doesnt play like Madden from Sega days..

Call of Duty 2 was the definition of twitch shooter bruh, it was in Caleague and CPL and most people used 1 shot rifles in competition.

I had a 8 to 1 kill/death ratio (no bull shyt) on call of duty 4 man and was playing in leagues/PUG I dont need a lesson on call of duty 4. Literally would have multiple strings of games going 24-2 or some shyt in every game for weeks on end cause I used to practice the fukk out of that game and it was the first one with air strike abuse.

It was also the first FPS I ever played where stats were recorded locally (:beli:) and if something went wrong (common for call of duty 4 on PC) it would wipe your stats (:beli:)

but even picking up call of duty now I get easy 2:1 or 3:1 kill death ratio and I aint play that shyt in years

with all that said, I think you confusing popular with influence. Call of duty was influenced by counter strike/battlefield

shyt Call of Duty 1 expansion was damn near a carbon copy of battlefield 1942 :pachaha:

you cant pick and choose what is considered influential or not... Battlefield clearly leads the way and Call of Duty follows pursuit..

and we are forgetting Wolfenstein in all of this talk as well.

Again Call of Duty aint even in this discussion

How can it influence if it self was influenced :mindblown: why cant you give credit to battlefield ?
nikka everything was influenced by something else, with the games that came before we wouldnt have bf

nikka i love bf way more than cod, way way more, i play the shyt daily and owned 3 of them, this is no stile to it, its probably my favorite fps ever, but cod4 came thru wit something fresh and orginial and crushed the building and everybody else after that followed suite, lol fans demanded killzone be like cod
