If you are under 6'0" (and ESPECIALLY under 5'10") yet have NBA caliber/elite athleticism, you'd be better off playing soccer, hockey, football, baseball, track....anything.

Basketball is a tall man's game. The athletes are a few notches below other sports because height filters out 95% of the population. A 6'4" man (think D-Wade) is probably 97 to 99th percentile for height among all men in the world. In hoops, 6'4" is normal for a PG maybe a smallish SG and noticeably undersized for any other position. Basketball and volleyball are the only sports were being taller is ALWAYS an advantage. Other sports, height can work for or against you in different situations (tall jump ball receiver = good; tall RB = not as good usually).
Even in soccer nowadays they seem to be dismissing people on the shorter side at top flight leagues in europe. So imagine the NBA

Seeing how everyone except the Aussie is a shooter in 2024, any team with such a guy would be playing defense with 4 guys. But then again it’s 2024 so what’s defense :troll:

I actually really don't think so.

The league was starting to trend going tall until Curry changed the game with the shooting and having smaller guys run around out there.

Now however, you have 6'7 players like Luka doing what Curry did and the league are now trying to find taller players doing the same thing.

Jalen Green and Anthony Edwards at 6'5 will probably be the new height for the agile Kyrie-type of players.

the internet has opened a lane again

for streetball/mixtape money

under 6ft players will always be able to thrive in that lane where it's about producing highlights
