Well, as long as the alternative to trap that can sell (Cole, K. Dot, etc.) and gains momentum in 2014, there is hope for people that want to go outside of the trap sub-genre.

Artist like k dot and j Cole.
Are put out by throwback talents, dre & jay, who became admin's.
If music like that is not connected to them, it will not have a draw.
To make it feasible to produce that type of music in the long term.
Plus, culturally,.....
there is no movement that is recognized as relevant to keep that content driven type of material alive.

it really isn't the problem.
it is the prison industrial complex.
