How is this anything like Sonic 3D Blast?

In 3D Blast, you have to collect a set of birds that follow you in a trail to get to the next level.

From what it looks like here, you are collecting Yoshi eggs that follow you in a trail to get to the next level. Same concept, different perspective.

At least that's what one can get from the trailer...

A Sonic/Mario crossover might be what's needed to reignite both of their franchises. Though they need to do a better job with implementing both game styles' mechanics.

I played a few levels at a store, and watched and entire lets play of the game over a week or so..

It probably doesn't need it, but it's gonna need something if it wants to attract a bigger fan base. Some dudes ain't trying to play the same looking Mario games over and over again. I'm sure it's a good game, just doesn't interest me enough to try it.

That hardest thing about meshing Mario and Sonic would be the pacing IMO.

Mario galaxy2 to a lesser extent sm3dw have a lot of sonic esque levels

but it completely overlooks the fact that the floating eggs is directly taken straight from yoshi's island. its kinda similar to sonic 3d blast but it is exactly like yoshis island.
