Will we ever have an open and honest discussion about mental health in the black community?

I'll be honest with you and I always had these arguments with ppl growing up. "The Hood" aint as bad as motherfukkas or the media make it sound. Its all racist over sensationalized bullshyt.

Ppl do drugs in the hood same way ppl do drugs in the suburbs. There is crime everywhere.

But in the 90's the media put a black face on it to help sway public opinion for laws to put millions of brothers in jail or to justify certain zoning practices when it comes to public funding and education.....but honestly thats a whole different topic.

But I have a question for you, are you truly happy in NYC right now? Cause honestly I feel ppl who flee to places like LA n NY are just running from something. If you aint grow up in those types of area's logically it really makes no sense to flea there and chase shadows your whole life. Sometimes its best to just buckle down and face the demon's head on.
I love NYC.
:blessed:

I feel like Lebron when he went from shytty Cleveland to Miami to play for the heat.

I have made opportunities for myself that a black man like myself would of never had in Pittsburgh. Because it is THAT racist. Aside from Boston...its arguably the most racist city in the Northeast. Like it is home to the poorest black community in America. Most black people there are unemployed and living on govt assistance cause the job market there is terrible. There is next to no single black professional scene there. Its extremely segregated. Its majorty white. The majority of black people work in fast food, low level grunt work like construction or moving or shipping, or are janitors. Black people in corporate America are almost non-existent.

I honestly hated growing up in Pittsburgh. fukk it. I'm much better off in New York.

I wouldnt raise a family in NYC though id move out of state.

Personally for me...NYC just fits me better than Pittsburgh. Ive have no problem finding work here ive lived here for almost 4 years and have had almost 10 jobs...lol.

Where else could someone like myself be homeless sleeping in a car and find a wall street job not even two months later?

Its definitely a good look to people all over the world if you have nyc work experience on your resume.

So yo, do you feel if your family was originally from Brooklyn or some shyt. Ya battles with depression would be much different.

Like I said originally. Alot of times when it comes to Mental illness. Environment, nurture and certain experiences or scenarios are what trigger it.

Every human in existence is prolly a lil off, but certain trauma's are what trigger it and make it manifest.
