If Wilt accomplished those feats in 2022, his 53 Points would be the 7th best Points performance in the season. His assists total would be the 47th best of th year. His Rebounds, Blocks, and Steals would be the #1 performance of the year in those categories. Imagine accomplishing all of that in One game.
Saying, "if he accomplished those feats in 2022" doesn't make sense though. Because of the pace and minutes it wouldn't be even physically possible to do the same thing today. Last year we had a pace of 98. In the slow late 1990s the pace was in the low 90s. In the fast break 80s the pace was all the way up around 110. But in Wilt's era, the pace was something well over 120. And playing 48 minutes on top of that, it's as if he played 50% more possessions than today's players would play.
To look at another game that year...
Lenny Wilkens had 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists
Joe Caldwell had 30 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists
Bill Bridges had 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists
Paul Silas had 19 points and 15 rebounds
Zelmo Beaty had 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists
dikk Snyder had 12 points and 3 rebounds
Gene Tormohlen had 8 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists
They all played for the same team.
Imagine having a game in this era where SIX players on the same team hit double-digit rebounds on the same night. Nowadays we rarely ever even get 3.
