Kareem played against the center Wilt played in this game, Darrall Imhoff. Their careers overlapped just like Wilt and Jabbars careers overlapped. A peak scoring 30+ppg Kareem managed to drop 48 on Imhoff. Impressive. But would have taken 52 more to prove he could go on a scoring rampage like Wilt, and Imhoff was not the bum people might assume based on what the 100 point game alone would suggest. Staying active in a league for 10+ years with Reed/Thurmond/Russell/Jabbar/Chamberlain etc means you're at least somewhat valuable to teams in the league. Jabbar played against "90's centers" and you know how the rest of this logic goes. If 100 points was some unremarkable feat other greats should have at least come close. Also, arguing about 90's centers vs 60's centers at this point is just like arguing which of your grandpas could beat the other grandpa up... both generations are "back in my day" history at this point. Everyone cross your fingers that Embiid can inspire a new generation of basketball kids to play the center position the right way. Kid has got charisma, let's hope he's got game and longevity.

Why the shade, breh?

As it is obviously impossible to compare across eras, given the state of the NBA when Wilt played... I think the best argument that can be made is this: Wilt is very likely the greatest athlete ever to play the Center or PF positions, the "big men" spots. So if you want to argue that centers from this era were more skilled, well that's your prerogative. If you think that the big men in the 90's were just better, and there's no argument... that's fine too. But Wilt was bigger and more athletic than Dream, Robinson, Ewing, Kareem, all of them. He was not as massive as shaq, obviously, but in the ways that somebody like Akeem (yeah fukk your 'H') gave him headaches and outplayed him often... there is reason to believe Wilt would have done the same.

Because of who he played against, it is impossible for many to see how SKILLED he was, it's like seeing Anthony Davis play in the Yeshiva league.

Wilt would have been a dominant, elite NBA force in any era. I don't award him extra points for playing in the league in an era populated with men of my color and height... but I don't take points away from him either. If he had been born 20 years later... with moe modern training and nutrition... and a pair of sneaker not made out of canvas?

1 thing I know for sure... he quit in 1969.

1 thing I believe... Dream woulda gave him that work.

I can't glorify a guy I never seen play. But I can glorify a guy who I believe to be the best center of all time. Why? Becuz I'm biased in my opinion (I'm from Houston) and becuz I've seen him play.

I don't like Wilt and even worst is the glorification of a guy 100% of us never seen play.

Oh and as a Laker this big ass chump quit on the Finals. As a Lakers fan, how you think that make me feel?
breh you come into his threads and are usually disrespectful as all hell

fukk Wilt. fukk a Dan. And fukk you too. I don't give a shyt about his footage.

On a serious note.... It's like when dudes say their favorite fighter is Ali. I'm like, "you never seen him fight"

I hate glorifying something I wasn't apart of. I can't do it.

I watched footage of Sugar Ray Robinson extensively and I think he is by far the greatest fighter to ever live. But I gotta keep 100. I gotta keep that out of it and give props to the dudes I have seen fought.
