Winamp used to be my go to media player for YEARS, then that unfortunately got supplanted when iPods required iTunes to sync music. Then I threw everything apple related in the bushes when I discovered streaming music... first with Sony Music Unlimited and now Spotify which I play all of my "cloud" and local music from.

Damn. Winamp had the game on LOCK back in the day. That shyt ran smooth as hell and they were the first with the visualizations and internet radio streams. Real Player and Windows Media Player were around back then but werent close to fukkin with Winamp. You could put all kinds of skins on it and even have 2 Winamps playing at the same time if you knew how to freak it properly.

Itunes came thru and crushed the buildings and Winamp refused to make a Mac version which was part of their downfall. The other was that you couldnt use it with the iPod, which was just getting bigger and abigger back then. It was good that they stuck to the same formula but not evolving kinda crushed them and left them stuck in the past.

Still, whether you were downloading mp3s from Napster, iMesh, Kazaa, torrents or Limewire, Winamp was where EVERYTHING was going to played on at the end of the day
