Some people have KD as a top 15 player.
:patrice:
Because he has two rings (super team) and two FMVP does that automatically move him past KG, Dirk, Barkley, Malone, and even Big O.
:lupe:
Strictly career accomplishments and not best player. He probably has a case.
:ehh:
It’s sad because most of those players and the actual top 12 GOATs don’t play for more than 2 teams. Shaq and Bron are the exceptions. Maybe Wilt as well. KD did it to himself but I doubt her cares. He just wants to hoop and be happy.
:manny:

Great point and a lot of it just depends, bc that 3-year GSW run was a very formative period for the legacies and narratives of at least 5 stars: Harden, Curry, LeBron, CP3, Kawhi.

i.e. if KD stays put in OKC, we're feasibly looking at '17 Spurs vs Cavs; '18 Rockets vs Cavs; 19 Rockets vs Raptors. Which means either Kawhi culminates his top 3 MVP finalist season with a Finals MVP and perhaps never gets Zaza'd, or LeBron wins 1 or possibly 2 more rings before LAL and now the Jordan vs LeBron debate is probably more 50/50 in public opnion than 65-35 in Mike's favor, or Harden culminates his MVP winning season with a ring and Finals MVP which then completely changes how he's viewed (CP3 as well).

Or, Curry finds a way to still beat all those teams (including wherever KD lands) at least once and is never subjected to the narrative that he was KD's "sidekick". Basically it was a crapshoot of parity.

KD COULD be the final piece for a team like the Rockets or Thunder but we've been saying that for a while now and he hasn't gotten a ring since 2018. All of it is not his fault but I don't know about giving up a lot for Durant at this point.

I think the Nuggets is possible as well:

Suns get: MPJ, Nnaji, Saric, first
Nuggets get: KD

Plus KD gets to play with his BFF Jordan again

The problem is that the Nets collapsed and then the Suns went and traded away their core for him. The key in LeBron moving to teams has always been that he goes as a free agent. KD re-signing in Brooklyn before Kyrie and Harden was his downfall. He put too much faith in those guys staying.

If he is a free agent, or pending free agent he could’ve dictated the terms of his exit from BK. Most likely he ends up on the Suns with Bridges still there or he ends up in Miami with Jimmy and Bam. Like Jerry West said, a guy like that is untradeable. And that’s why KD vetoed that Warriors trade. He knows that they wouldn’t be a contender with him after giving up everything. He learned his lesson.

All of this.

To trade for KD, you'd need to give up a lot of assets that probably made you a contender. He isn't in that tier of where you build around him anymore, you add him to get over the hump. Don't think there is any team out there that would still be a contender after trading away the needed assets to get Durant. :hubie:

I'll give u that but to me the problem started when they traded for Harden. The core they had with Levert and Allen was more then good enough to give them a chance at a ring, But they were so much in a rush to get rid of Atkins and try that superteam ish.

He at the end of the road. Jimmy butler status in terms of not having much left in the tank.

Id like him on the knicks to be honest. Only
Because then I can see him be great in person
