you shouldn't need the box or the key. it should recognize that your copy of windows has been activated

I haven't read this whole thread but I got a pop-up on my computer saying get Windows 10 free. Then in small print on the bottom right it says, "Yes free. Full Version of Windows 10, not a trial."

Is there a catch? Is it really free?

Yeah if you have a legit copy of Windows 7 or above the upgrade is free.

If you've purchased a phone, gaming system or any other device with a CPU in it, then yes... you've purchased plenty of Operating Systems since 98

Microsoft is making Windows 10 available as a free upgrade1 for qualified and genuine Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 devices. The free upgrade for select Windows Phone 8.1 devices will start to be available later this year.

read up at microsoft's knowledge base to figure out what error codes and such mean, because as you can see; we all have different information to answer a question. to be sure you're getting the best help, read up on their site breh.

I didn't have a genuine copy of Window 7 or Office, upgraded to Windows 10 don't have a watermark and no longer get popups when using Word/Excel saying it's not genuine.

I was running on 0MB disk space the past few days and I ain't even notice. I just erased the old windows install folder(Do it through disc cleanup) and now I'm 10GB free .
