I updated my gaming PC to this and am doing the HTPC and Netbook next. I fail to see how this is really much different from Windows 8. that 'start' button is just a button that did the same thing hovering over the bottom left corner of the screen or pressing the Windows key did.

anybody using this notice any major differences?

i thought something was wrong on my end when I updated to the 8.1 preview a few months back. The shyt literally seemed to only add an icon to the corner.

Yeah, it was pretty much panned as soon as they revealed what the new "start button" actually did. It's ridiculous. It's as if they acknowledged that people wanted it, but still gave them the ole fukk you. I truly don't understand it.

I haven't updated yet because I'm afraid it'll screw up some of my networking settings for my streaming that I do off of it.

:lupe:

Can you go back to a previous update after going up to 8.1?

It allows for tiny and super large tiles

Thats what jumped out to me, but I have only have it for a couple hours, still setting up my home screen, but here's a pic of it so far

the best coast
i updated this morning.

i dont use the windows except for one app so the only difference is the "start button" leading back to the panes

and i dont use ie so i feel like i just wasted 3 gb for an update

i thought the panes were supposed to pop up over my background instead of taking me back to the apps page?

Yeah update was like over 3.6 gbs with barely any noticeable difference. Looks like it made everything on my screen larger even at 1080p.

It's downloading now, but the only reason I'm doing so, is because it supposedly gives better performance for games. I got BF4 ready to go but I'm going to install 8.1 before doing so just to see how it goes.

There really isn't that much new because there was nothing wrong with Windows 8 to begin with...people just started complaining about a damn start menu :snoop:
