Late 08....That song with Kanye, Wayne, Jay Z and TI that had the MIA sample was all over the place.

the hype behind Ron Browz due to that "pop champagne" and " Arab Money" songs

Detroit
G-Side - Starshipz & Rockets
Big K.R.I.T - See Me On Top Vol 2

These two pretty much dominated my fall/winter 08. Couple holdovers from the summer(KD-Playa Prezident, Slim OG-One Foot In) and that was it.

upp

lets continue to reminisce over this lackluster time period.

i know you guys keep saying this but in that time and now this rap shyt is what you make it, GZA,Pete Rock, AZ had all put out albums in 08, not to mention i was still buming N.O.R.E and the War Report for no apparent reason. If you were looking for new shyt all the time then i could see your point, but shyt, winter 08 was when 50 put out, what i feel, is his last relevant group of tracks which were shut ya bloodclot mouth, the mechanic, etc

that whole year had interesting moments, like fat joes 300, and even if i dont listen to it, people liked carter 3, again, in todays hip hop where radio means nada, people just make their own playlists

it was a weak year. no way around it, even if you stayed away from the stuff you didn't like, as I did.

the sad part is that I would be happy to have a year like 2008 again over 2013.

also, this is just about winter '08: January thru march.

to me every year has been a weak year since 1998. 1999 was when i eliminated the radio altogether from my rotation. i hated the radio at that point. but 2009 was when most of my favorite rappers stopped releasing stuff, guys who were on top in 96/01/06 etc were being phased out at that point.

hip hop to me since 2009 for me has been like this
