Did you end up finding a flight/train/bus to your destination?

It has been a total clusterfxxk. Against my better judgment we ended up rebooking to fly out on Christmas Day and got caught up in the Southwest fiasco. We left for the airport at 4AM Christmas Day, flight was to board at 6:30AM. Flight was delayed until almost 11AM causing us to miss our connector flight in Chicago. Once we finally got to Chicago there were no other flight options or available rental cars, so we bought a train ticket and Ubered from the airport to Union Station with only 20 minutes to spar before the train was supposed to take off. Train was then delayed a half hour to an hour over and over until being canceled at 10:30PM. At that point we threw in the towel and got a hotel so we could try again the next day. Our boy ended up just saying to hell with it, hopped in his whip and drove 4 and a half hours overnight to pick us up. We took a nap in the hotel, regrouped and made it in about 27 hours later. Thinking of extending our stay here now cause I’m not confident Southwest will have their stuff together by this weekend.

Damn! So I'm guessing you got to your destination like Dec 26th at night?

That's crazy. Might as well as well stay there to make the long trip count lol

I thought it was crazy in N Ohio the weekend before the storm :sadcam:. I was driving to Detroit and experienced my first white out condition driving on a 2 lane hwy and that still didn't compare to the storm over the weekend. My GX ate the road up but all the roads and hwys here were and still filled with poor people with no brakes, bald tires, donut rims, and etc out and getting stranded on the hwy.

Edit

Only reason I went out Saturday was to get some last min cards for some people I forgot to touch. it was safe go out but the roads and wind gusts was still at factor in Columbus

What made you decide to go on the trip despite warnings about weather?

Pipes burst due to all the cold weather. Just got plumbing to repair that after paying $500. Now I gotta wait for my insurance adjuster so I can get my flooring and stuff redone :francis:

Family stuff really. My wife’s grandmother is sick so they were pushing for everyone to spend the Christmas with her cause it may be one of the last opportunities. Wife would be devastated if something happened and missed that opportunity. So had to not be selfish in the situation. Didn’t expect things to go like they are going. Southwest and the weather narrative is some bs though, they are having system/scheduling issues and using the weather to not admit that part.
