I don't think this is applicable in a "visa-free" environment. There is no screening of anything when you arrive in over 100 countries as an American

But staying permanently would be difficult because they require paperwork. And even this is an easy hurdle to climb in most of the world with a small bribe or two; however , the bribe system is inaccessible to normal people in eu or the former British colonies or America's Asian puppets .

It's not a percentage you can get a visa to live if you make more than 3 times the minimum salary or about US 900 dollars.

That being said if you're trying to live on 900 bucks a month I doubt if you'd be comfortable.

If you're old know Spanish, have local friends, don't chase hoes or party much you could get away with 1200 a month bare minimum but I wouldn't come with less than 1500 a month and I'd only do that if I had 15K liquid.
