I Feel what your saying but im talking about a legit push buy rappers and majors to have more variety. There's like 5 types of jazz, multiple types of country all hiphop really has is era's. We Hearing these dudes talking about the same shyt over and over. With everything going on I know it's not hard for an artist to pull from that.

Honestly with everything that's coming to a boiling point it seems like trap music/Gangsta rap music is nothing but an anchor holding hiphop back. J-Cole and Kendrick are trying to push forward but they not getting any true traction. We do need to preserve that time and hip hop history but it's time for us to move forward and have a sub-genre that speaks about what's really going on not just pushing crack and fukking slores. What yall think??

j cole the only rapper to go gold this year bruh, and its just music and people need to listen to what they want. some people dont take music as serious as some of us and really use music for clubs and driving, and its basically background music

To be honest, I think there's a lot of variety.

Now, whether there are people who appreciate that variety is another thing.

Yeah, I know the trap style is dominant. But we have options. Labels aren't really pushing much of anything. And the artists who are actually selling aren't all trap artists.

I don't rock with the radio much, but I do watch MTVJams. And in 2 hours, I can see vids by J Cole, Migos, Drake, Future, Slaughterhouse, Nicki, Joey Badass, KRIT, Rae Sremmurd, Lecrae... not saying I like all of those, or that they're equally popular... but it's not like that's 10 of the same video.

Granted, it's not late-80s/early-90s level diverse, but the options we have are diverse as fukk.

This is why I don't even sweat it anymore. It's up to us what we pay attention to and play. You can listen to Ghostface or Prhyme if you want, you can listen to Jeezy or Yo Gotti if you want, you can listen to Fab if you want, you can listen to J Cole...

Or do you want all this stuff to be equally popular? Cause that's the shyt we have no control over. People like what they like.

I care because I want more variety. Your acting like I'm trying to persuade people to stop bumping trap or Gangsta rap. Why is it a bad thing to want to see rappers rap about what's really going on and have that pushed by majors.
