With internet doubling every 2yrs on average, when do YOU THINK streaming will be a viable option for all games?

Before you reply, maybe you should do a little research if you don't know what's already been done in the past/present

OnLive came out in 2011

Goggle Stadia dropped in 2019 and was averaging 45-55ms latency which is great for anything other than competitive twitch like games.
You need to be 20ms or less for that.

Parsec on PC is considered the best, Moonlight is another. Nvidia Gforce can do 240fps over streaming right now :smugbiden:

So the question, with all this info being known and were in 2025....

Kojima finalizing a game that is at this point easily ran in the cloud since it isn't a sports game :patrice:
When do you think we'll be streaming sports and fighting games flawlessly?
I'd say no later than next year. What you think tho?

Wouldn't there always be a degree of latency issues?
Not when it gets below 20ms, and since old tech was close. shyt, I used to play Quake 3 Arena on Dreamcast and it was lag free during most matches and that was 20yrs ago.

Trust me when I tell you we are just around the corner from that being the way. Then your kids will look at you weird when you mention how it used to be :francis:
Gamepass streaming is already there if you have decent internet
Have you tried a FPS, sports or 1v1 fighting game?

I'm against it.

If streaming becomes mainstream internet providers will jack up their prices. I'm also against the idea of not owning your games it's ironic how ownership seems to be more protected on the PC where physical is a thing of the past compared to consoles where they're trying to nickle and dime you for fukking everything.

They hate the idea of used games, they hate the idea of selling to stores who will take a cut of the profit. Ideally if a game is released digitally, the savings on shipping, manufacturing, and costs borne by the supplier are supposed to go to you as the buyer. This used to be the case.

Now Nintendo for example will try to sell you a 8 year old game for LAUNCH PRICE on their digital store. The greed is absolutely insane in this business and I don't want any more technologies that will help them engage in their worst impulses. Low key i hope GTA6 underperforms because they are 100% going to try to sell that game for a minimum of $80.

Well you have to consider that we got people living in the heart of Brooklyn right now with a shytty internet provider they gotta sit on the patio with a fishing hook just to get Netflix in 720p. So just because it’s possible to have fiber doesn’t mean these providers are playing ball with everyone

Streaming IS mainstream for literally ALL OTHER WAYS except gaming and that's ONLY because of previous bandwidth/latency issues which improves each year, meanwhile internet prices are cheaper than ever so :dahell:

So then you're a physical medium warrior. Remember when ppl thought they was cool with Blu-ray collections :mjlol:
They sitting right next to the VHS tapes in storage :stopitslime:

Used games unless you looking for collection purposes is weird nowadays and there's a reason GameStop doesn't really exist anymore.
They are called Rapestop for a reason first off, then on PC games could be had at a discount. Which is now the norm on consoles so why buy used when I can cop it on sale, often for a fraction of the price it was just a month or two after release. Wait a year and its below $20. If "Used" games is such a big deal, then an actual deal on games is just as good, will be cheaper and more convenient. I can still access any game I bought digitally on Xbox since the 360 era and they made the OG's available a long time ago so what's the worry? Cuz Sony playing with y'all :smugbiden:

Nintendo is operating off of last gen technology but sells their stuff at premium prices, didn't really give discounts at all last gen for the entire gen.
What is so ideal about that? And a Mig Switch makes what you talking about.. funny style. You do realize Super Mario Kart is going to be $80 and you're suggesting GTA6 should be cheaper? :wtf:
What are you even talking about? Explain why.
You want me to explain reality?

So because somebody you made up in Brooklyn doesn't have suffice internet means Hideo Kojima will have to cancel OD? :damn:

Can't even have a real discussion with that clown :camby:

I actually play games and travel often. Sometimes streaming games are unplayable on hotel wifi. It's almost there though.

I deal in reality, you don't but I have time today sohh......
I actually play games
I'm confident you don't play as much as I do, but this isn't a contest so it wouldn't matter who plays the most.
If you was trying to little boy me, I'm probably cool with ya pops n Dem. You could check the ol gamertag if you wanna be humbled
But lets get back to the topic shall we...
and travel often. Sometimes streaming games are unplayable on hotel wifi. It's almost there though.
Well sir, your hotel wifi shouldn't and isn't the barometer on if gaming as a whole is ready for streaming.
Its already here, and you admit its close. I'm the only one elaborating on what that means.
It means you can't play a baseball game and expect to make contact on demand
It means if you play COD, you not gonna finish top 3

I don't know if you played those types of games or just games that work fine over streaming and have been working fine for 5+yrs already.
As people FINALLY try the services out, they say shyt we already know.
But its the shyt you don't know that I'm talking about, try to keep up. Your hotel for instance, quality depends on where you stay.
A high quality hotel will have fast internet, a cheaper jointwill have cheaper internet.. You didn't specify shyt, just acted like because you stayed in a couple that you now the authority because of that fact. To the point you thought you was saying something by mentioning that fact :tu:

Previously you mentioned cellphone, you on some portable shyt which is why I said Gameboy.
Let me assure you this convo isn't about streaming to a switch. It can apply, but its secondary at best. We talking a working streaming solution that eliminates the need for consoles. That's the gist of this convo. So cellular isn't a factor. Neither is the internet capabilities of a condominium in lower eastside of Jersey or whatever random place somebody will mention as a reason why streaming isn't a thing.

Hopefully I broke it down for you in such a way that there isn't confusion. When you can play the games I mentioned flawlessly, there literally will be no need for a console. So when do YOU THINK that will happen? I know its 2026, but I am curious what everyone else thinks. You included :handshake:
