Necessity.

And these new factories are NICE. Climate controlled(75 degrees at all times). People sit in front of a computer until the machine goes down and do what is needed to get it back going.
Not sure why you need a college degree for this, this sounds ripe for a vocational and technical school. Get trained on coding, monitoring and hands on repair. But we love creating barriers to advancement, have $60k in debt for factory work brehs

Not sure why you need a college degree for anything. I make more money than people with masters... So why have 60k debt for a job. That's gonna pay you 80k when someone like me with no college is pulling in 150k easy..

You’re an outlier, however you feel about college, please know that there is a big pay gap between those with and without college degrees. That said, yes, we’ve made a college degree a false qualifier for way too many jobs, that was a lazy way to weed our applicants

College is too expensive. The fact they we are encouraging our society to be less educated for cost reason is bad solution to this problem.
Even if we lowered the cost, a lot of jobs don’t require a college degree that ask for one, especially some jobs that go beyond that by asking for a masters for jobs that are pretty much training and memory oriented. We need to be more realistic about the training required for jobs and go back to putting money into vocational and trade schools, inexpensive certifications, or even JC’s and technical schools. We’ve over socialized the idea that everyone needs college

I also don’t think the average college creates people that are educated. We don’t have a culture of wanting to learn and think critically in this country, more people going to college and just going through the motions for a piece of paper doesn’t mean we’re really producing smarter or educated people, just raising the educational achievement level.

there needs to be a federal college system to create a low cost option that will force the whole market to charge less. Ivy leagues can charge $50,000 a year. fukking ASA tech shouldn’t be hitting people for that for a total of 4 combined years. Different tiers, different costs but the feds have to eat that cost to create a realistic cost floor.

They don’t want folks getting paid good without having debt first

Thats the bottom line. These greedy employers want people to be riddled with debt before making a living wage, so they remain submissive. Imagine if college debt was permanently wiped out and people managed to save 50% of their annual salary every year? People would move differently and behave differently.
