My mom earned a pro card in Body Building at the age of 52. Beating out women 10+ years younger than her.

She is now 58 and recently was proposed to by a man who is about to enter his 40s. Seeing her happy is everything to me.

You can still accomplish your dreams no matter what your age is. It’s a two way street though. Gotta stay active. Her getting older is something that stays on my mind too but we have to make our best of the time we have with them while we are still here.

I’m off myself at the age of 60. Seen my grandma and parents getting old. Life after 60 is just sitting and watching tv
I'm not sure if you're trolling or not, aren't you concerned about your social security money?

At a meeting we discussed the right to die being a human right(regardless of health). And we unpack some of the benefits of "early" death on a society and discussed the ways you could entice folks to make that decision...one way would be early social security disbursement

You get to enjoy/invest what you earned for either your or offspring's' benefit

On a side note.. with millennials having less kids, I wonder what the landscape and quality of life will look like when we get older.. i feel like there's gonna be a huge boom in nursing homes.

You’re already seeing it now. Not having kids = more disposable income = a market targeting services for the elderly.

There’s already an Uber for old people and shyt like that to address the market.

How much of your savings are you willing to spend to keep your parents alive?

Liquidating kids savings?
Taking equity out of your home ?
You can't sacrifice yourself for your parents. Their issues are their cross to carry. It took me years to get to that point. What my mom is going through is her cross to bear. All I can do is lighten the load here and there.
My mom is in this situation because of a series of unfortunate events and also poor planning on her part. Her life is a cautionary tale to me to make sure I have financial responsibility. Even something as basic as having disability insurance or life insurance. Or going to the fukking doctor.

I gotta say, these are the best times to be old.
You live longer because of better medicine and technology.
Homes and cars you own because cost of living was lower in the 00s
Dont have to worry about paying tuition fees back
Job experience under your belt, employers will keep you rather than hiring and take the time to train new hires.
You can apply for social security but you can call young adults lazy if they apply for welfare or live with their parents.
Most importantly, you dont have to worry about global warming.

My mother is 59 and in good health. Both of her parents are still alive and lucid. Her dad is 81 and in amazing health. Still mows his own lawn, drives himself wherever he needs to go. He took care of his health all his life and is in better shape than my own father who's in his 60s and uses walking aids.

My dad used to mock him all the time for his modest living but he's learning his lessons now!

I think it’s sad that people aren’t willing to sacrifice for their parents.

This is my demeanor toward my father....mainly because of his demeanor for most of his life. And the way I remember him interacting with his sickly father when I was really young.

Now my Mother...naw that's my baby. It will never be her fault in my eyes. I will have a complete breakdown if I'm here for her time.
