Damn, I knew he was getting raped all along but since 16?!

And the fact that he doesn't want much but just to get out the contract lets you know he's still eating

Death To Spookism
Can't really depend on artist to know the business side of things

We seen shyt like this happen time and time again

Black entrepreneurs really need to come up with an Eco system that other blacks can thrive on

This kind of thinking should have been eradicated a long time ago.

This is not a knock on you btw.

This is how every damn businessman does business...not just music or movies...but even your own damn job you got.....people don't even realize they are worth far more than their salaries...if u wanna get paid everything you deserve then be the boss....
exactly.
The worker gets paid a "safe wage" because they dont have to take any chances. Everything is laid out for them.

If Wiz flopped, the people he was signed to would have been out a ton of dough (and think of all the other artist they had that didnt amount to anything).

So its either you grab your balls and put your own money up....or take that paycheck.

Wiz Khalifa Net Worth Breakdown
To get a clean picture of where the Wiz Khalifa net worth total comes from, take a look at the chart below.
45% of Wiz Khalifa’s net worth comes from concert sales. That’s not surprising, as the young rapper tours consistently, sometimes performing over 100 shows a year. Only 9% of the singer’s net worth comes from sales of albums and singles. $15 million or 21% of the Wiz Khalifa net worth pie comes from YouTube. That’s a big chunk, pointing to the star’s popularity with younger audiences and his smart decision to opt out of having a Vevo channel.

9% of Wiz Khalifa’s net worth comes from merchandise sales. That’s a much bigger chunk than most stars, owing to younger audiences who shell out more at concerts. Another 7% of Khalifa’s earnings comes from endorsement deals, with 9% in the form of investment income.
Album Sales
Wiz Khalifa has released 5 studio albums and 11 mixtapes and sold over 2 million album copies. All together, Khalifa has earned $2.7 million from album sales. While that’s not a lot for a major recording star, album sales have served as a springboard for a heavy concert tour schedule and high dollar merchandise sales. In that regard, album sales are the foundation of the Wiz Khalifa net worth saga.
Recording stars earn 6.6% of the money from every song they sing, and another 4.5% if they write the song. Khalifa writes his own music and earns an estimated 11.1%.

Khalifa’s first single in 2007, Pittsburgh Sound, sold 50,000 units. His first big hit, 2008’s Say Yeahsold 500,000 copies and was awarded the RIAA Gold certification. Concerts
Concerts are the biggest contributor to the Wiz Khalifa net worth picture with $32 million in earnings. The star is notorious for touring almost obsessively, sometimes putting on over 100 shows a year. 2009’sDeal or No Dealwas the star’s debut tour, pulling in an estimated $5 million in revenue. Big name singers typically earn 85% of concert earnings according to industry estimates. That means Khalifa earned about $4.25 million for theDeal or No Dealtour.
The tar’s most lucrative tour so far was Rolling Papersin 2011. That tour brought $15.3 million to the Wiz Khalifa net worth total. the American Beauty / American Psycho tour brought in the least money for Khalifa, since he was the opening act for Fall Out Boyand had to take a smaller share of the proceeds.

American Beauty / American Psycho (with Fall Out Boy) 2015 $10,500,000 10% $1,050,000
YouTube
One big surprise in the Wiz Khalifa net worth mix is YouTube earnings. Most stars earn a decent amount of money from YouTube, but Khalifa outdoes even bigger stars. For example, Kanye West is arguably a much bigger star than Khalifa, but West’s YouTube channel has 1.4 billion views compared to Khalifa’s 2 billion. One reason might be Khalifa’s youth appeal.
Either way, 2 billion views translates to a lot of cash. Industry analysts estimate 1,000 YouTube views translates to about $7.60. That means Khalifa has earned $15 million from YouTube ad revenue alone.
YouTube Views Earnings per 1,000 Views Wiz Khalifa % Wiz Khalifa Earnings
Wiz Khalifa Channel 1,993,047,549 0.0076 100% $15,147,161
Endorsements

It’s not known exactly how much of Wiz Khalifa’s net worth comes from endorsements. However, Khalifa does have some endorsement deals, most notably a high dollar deal with Converse. We estimate Khalifa earns about $500,000 a year from endorsements. While that’s low compared to higher profile stars like Jay Z and Nicki Minaj, it still adds up to a tidy $6.4 million over the course of a ten year career.
Merchandise
Another place Wiz Khalifa excels is merchandising. Analysts report that Khalifa earns more per fan in merchandise sales than much bigger stars like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift. The reason might be Khalifa’s singular message. The rapper is a huge proponent of marijuana, and his fans seem to like the message enough to buy the merch. Wiz Khalifa rolling papers, hoodies, tee shirts and hats stuff Amazon’s warehouses. Check out what a search for “Wiz Khalifa rolling papers” turned up at Amazon in the screen grab below. Wiz Cone anyone?
Based on merchandise earnings at 20% of concert revenue, Wiz Khalifa’s net worth has benefited from $6.4 million in merchandising over the course of his career.

Wiz Khalifa’s net worth has merchandising to thank. This guy is the Martha Stewart of pot smoking.
Taxes, Expenses, Investments
We don’t honestly know how much of Wiz Khalifa’s net worth is siphoned off by taxes and expenses. We also don’t know how much he makes from investments. Having said that, it’s not hard to estimate.
The star is in a 39.6% federal tax bracket. Living in Philadelphia, PA, his state tax bracket is capped at 3.07%. That means Khalifa pays a grand total of 42.67% in taxes. Applying that to his yearly earnings gives a career tax bill of $27.7 million. Figuring 15% of Khalifa’s income gets spent on expenses for things like cost of living, agents, staff and operating costs, we estimate the rapper has spent $9.7 million on expenses.
As far as investments go, Khalifa has probably done something with his earnings other than sticking them in a shoe box. Though he has famously stated that he spends $10,000 a month on marijuana, after that’s squared away he’s probably still got net earnings of $27.5 million over the past 10 years. Growing that at a rate of 6% would give Khalifa another $6.3 million in investment income. That’s $3.6 million after taxes.
Putting it all together, $65 million in career earnings minus $28 million in taxes and $10 million in expenses plus $3.6 million in investments gives us our $31 million Wiz Khalifa net worth figure.

I wonder if curren$y got that same deal with warner? :jbhmm: He be touring his ass off as well. Explains the "spitta andretti" moniker for his mixtapes or unofficial albums(drive in theater, new jet city). Warner cant make money off that "spitta andretti" moniker, because technically its a different rapper from curren$y. :ohhh: Dame Dash was right about warning spitta about not signing to a major
when you sign a contract, you sign with your legal name and social security number... don't matter what the fukk you want to call yourself... they own the shyt

now if your label allows you to put out free mixtapes... then that's cause y'all cool and they allow it

but at any time they can shut that shyt down or take a piece of it, if it's in the contract

So it might be clause in the contract for the "spitta andretti" moniker.

no... he'd just ask if it was cool and they'd let him do it

a contract has your name... so it'd say "from here until _______. Mike Smith and any and all music he records is the property of Epic Records"

now they might also buy your rap name... which would be in the contract as well "Mike Smith, owner of the copyright to MC Dope, will transfer ownership to Epic Records"

finally they will say "Epic Records will have final say on all public releases of music content done by Mike Smith"

they got you wrapped up so anything you record is theirs..... if you try to get around that by selling this or that with your name on it, but it's not music (shirts, shoes, hats) they own the name you using.... then if you try to say ok fukk them, i'll just do shows, features, mixtapes, they can say you never gave them permission to put this out, and send out cease and desist to concert halls, clubs, radio stations..

that contract is 30-40-50 pages fukking long... written in the same lawyer talk as that statement in the OP.. there is no way some hood nikka or even the common man would know everything involved.. that's why you got to get a GREAT lawyer... which costs money... and takes time to find and have him explain... but you see these nikkas signing in 1 day of the meeting with the label... that right there tells you, they never did that

and lets say you got a great lawyer who tells you "you getting fukked" well the label don't need you... goodbye... back to grinding at open mics... so you take the deal anyway cause you fear that and feel its your one shot..

unless you already doing great on your own... and have some leverage like 3 other labels who want you.... you are fukked

someone like currency.. he was already on cash money... had a little buzz... probably in a 360.. and his "mixtapes" are usually found on itunes.. so he himself said the label pretty much leaves him alone.. they know he works hard and puts out music... they getting a piece of everything... they don't care

now lyor cohen... he going to follow your ass everywhere you go and dictate if you're allowed to play your own song on the radio... why? cause young thug probably was a nobody when he signed and had zero leverage to argue that deal he got

last thing... and it doesn't really happen anymore... but if you are putting out FREE mixtapes... the label could sue you still, but since they are "free", they couldn't attach a money value to them... so it'd be a waste of time and money for them to do so...

that's the real reason why mixtapes got shut down... cause artists was like fukk the label... record mixtapes... claim it was "free" cause there was no itunes or nothing... then they really selling the mixtapes to mom and pop stores for a profit, under the table.. they'd put half their album on it, the other half stolen beats, album would tank, label wouldn't get any money off the album, nor off the stolen beats... but the artist didn't give a fukk he got paid

then out of nowhere best buy and shyt would have fukking mixtapes in the store... that's when the labels was like "y'all nikkas must be out your fukking mind" and now we have mixtapes going straight to itunes with a label getting their piece of the pie and all original (throwaway) tracks
