No way the max for kids coming off of ROOKIE CONTRACTS will be $118 million over 5 years. Carmelo Anthony is a veteran with 11 years of experience and just signed that.

Right now, the max the Wizards or anyone can sign him for is 4 years $64 million.

The Wizards already used the 5 year $80 million max designation for John Wall.

His rookie contract expires in 2016.

The max can't just JUMP nearly $40 million over 5 years like that.

Since he can sign only a 4 year deal, it'd be $100 million but that can't be right.

Perhaps the max for kids coming off rookie deals will increase but not by $40 million over the life of a deal.

Beal will end up signing the same type of deal Klay Thompson signed. Bank on that.

Ain't that a super-max? I thought you had to make 2 all-star games or be 1st team all-NBA to get a deal worth that much?

Or do I got that wrong?

This is :duck:

With the current setup even if a player was eligible for the Derrick Rose rule they can't sign a 100+ mil contract when they're coming off their rookie deal. Probably will change in a few years, but for now? Nah.

Carmelo just signed for $120 million over 5 years. He's a veteran with 11 years of experience.

The CURRENT MAX FOR KIDS COMING OFF ROOKIE CONTRACTS IS 4 YEARS $64 MILLION WITH THE CURRENT SALARY CAP!

IF YOU GET A FRANCHISE DESIGNATION LIKE JOHN WALL, IT'LL BE 5 YEARS $80+ MILLION.

IF you have the All-Star/MVP/etc criteria, then the 5 year max goes for $90 million+.... Over 4 years its in the $70 million range.

Again, THIS IS THE MAX FOR COMING OFF OF ROOKIE DEALS.

If the Cap goes to $70 million or whatever this offseason, there'll be adjustments but there's NO WAY Beal can sign for $120 million... He can't.

well first off, when they give him an extension this summer, it won't kick in until 2016-17

His first year salary will replace Nene's $13 million that year... Nene is a free agent in 2016

The Wizards are still in play for KD with a Beal extension. $45 million in salary is committed with a Beal extension.

If the cap is at $70 million, that's $25 million of space to offer Durant a deal. Humphries could be moved to get more space as well.
