Me and my lady joke about this every once in a while. This was the first movie we saw together and it ended up being a complete 180 from what I thought it was gonna be and underwhelming. I’m still embarrassed I recommended we see this

The Wolfman was theatrically released on February 12, 2010, by Universal Pictures to mixed reviews although the makeup received praise. The film was a financial failure, grossing $142.6 million against a production budget of $150 million.

Leigh disappointed me here. That Wolf-O-Vision got old quick, lol. It’s an interesting idea that came across lacking in execution. Some genuine cool body horror bits, but ultimately, there’s a better movie in Cronenberg’s The Fly that accomplishes what this film is trying to do.

It’s 2025 and nobody has come close to rivaling An American Werewolf in London’s cutthroat transformation. The vamps got their mojo back. Werewolves can, too, but apparently it’s a tall task for modern filmmakers.

That gothic Victorian atmosphere in 2010’s pops out a lot more coming out of this one, where the story is mostly set on a boring ass farm.

One great thing I’ll say about Leigh’s though is the score. That and the sound design went crazy.
