Someone has to deal with the mental health of prisoners and other such low people in a society and those people may not always make the correlation between a person’s need for mental health support and their ability to be a good romantic partner.
Mentally unhealthy people don’t make good mates. They tend to crash out and have issues regulating their emotions and being too impulsive.
So it’s probably NOT a good idea to be romantically involved with one. The problem is mentally unhealthy individuals can be attractive, charming, funny, fun-loving, smart, etc. all the things we want in a mate. The key is don’t ignore the warning signs/red flags. It sounds like she did. I feel sorry for her.
