I just thought about that too because every family has bad apples. If some scumbag kidnaps the grandparents and leaves a ransom note. The shady members of the family will try to talk the price down. Or even worse say we don't negotiate with terrorists and hang up the phone. They go back to counting money like hey they lived a long full life.
