Question for the coli brehs/brehettes

What are your thoughts on people who state that:

"women have no place in hip-hop"
"female emcees are wack"
"i dont want to hear no woman sounding like a dude spitting"

Personally i think its a bit chauvinistic

Thoughts?

side-note: has anybody ever realize, that hip-hop may possibly be the alot genre where this is done?

thoughts ladies @Elle Driver @MekaCatt @Phoenix_Knightly23 @Rawtid @yeahisaidit

I'm glad you asked my breh. Great thread topic.

I've skimmed the whole thread and all I gotta say is WRONG WRONG WRONG!!

The problem with femcees in today's hip hop market is that they all follow the same fukking lane. The lil Kim/ Nikki minaj lane. ...the stripper/ whore rapper

The female artists y'all being up that can spit and are dope dont get promoted because THEY'RE NOT HOT LOOKING enough. At the end of the day we wanna be entertained. A bytch can hav Nas skills but if she's fat or not attractive she gets :camby:

Think about it like this. Lets say your at a club and there's a female rap battle goin down on stage. In one corner you hav a chik with crazy lyrical skills but she's dressed like a dude and is far from cute/ pretty. In the other corner is a bytch that can barely rhyme "the cat in the hat" but she's fine az fukk, pretty ass face and is wearin some sexy shyt showin legs , heels etc.... The ugly one would get the respect but the fine one would be MORE ENTERTAINING....that's what we've done to hip hop as far as female artists

Jus sayin :manny:

I feel like hip hop is male centered and dominated, so if you're gonna be a female you need to keep your femininity and solidify your spot without compromising that. I don't really care what nikkas have to say about whether or not women have a place in hip hop, cause at the end of the day Lauryn Hill is top 10 dead or alive to me and released one of the greatest albums in hip hop history. :manny:

She mite be top 10 female rappers but she don't belong in hip hop HOF

Question for the coli brehs/brehettes

What are your thoughts on people who state that:

"women have no place in hip-hop"

This is completely wrong imo. I mean, there would be no hip-hop without them.
The ones who were there from the beginning say it was about "money, hoes, & clothes".

Not that all women are hoes...but these rappers were rappin' for clout and ladies.
And they still are.

And on a personal level, there are a buncha women who have made their own place in hip-hop.

"female emcees are wack"

False.

"i dont want to hear no woman sounding like a dude spitting"

This has a grain of validity to it. But again, in the olden days (lol) people would only listen to someone who came off as authoritative.
The Female MC is damned if she does, and damned if she doesn't.

side-note: has anybody ever realize, that hip-hop may possibly be the alot genre where this is done?

All entertainment is sexist.

you made me think back the stigma has been paint along time ago that "sex sells" look at what happen when BIG told Kim she should dress more provocative.( that one scene in the movie Notorious)...... Time shift, I remember Sister Souljah and Ms Melodie (from the funky four plus one more) and the attire they wore....or Latifah (the latter two was chubby in disposition). its more of a thing an image rather thats being painted today. I think the hip-hop market and Underground rap need to take destiny into their own hands and promote themselves. I recalled there was this one chick (actually she was on 8 mile in a cypher w/ Eminem) Name Njeri Earth....was on one of GZA from Wu Tang albums wore a headwrap and baggy pants...its like she got lost in shuffle when the Foxy Brown/Lil Kim thing started really emerging.

She mite be top 10 female rappers but she don't belong in hip hop HOF

i know its your moment and imma let you finish
imma let you finish
but would you care to explain why?

All entertainment is sexist.

A majority of female emcees are wack. They're either wack for trying to sound "tough" (like a dude) or they over exploit the fact that they're not ugly by constantly addressing how hot they are/ fukk for money/ horny for sex etc.

It's not fair. But men dominate the genre. The artists and the audience.... We in the audience want to respect hers skill , respect her "persona" and be aroused by her looks.

Right now all we gettin is clones of Nikki everywhere

so true, redundancy breeds non-interest imo. Sexual themes are almost all you hear in music nowadays. Once the one chick who i think had a song called P*ssy? shyt is a bit tired.

Because in my opinion HOF is for those whom have sustained a great career in hip hop as well as contributed greatly to the art form with their influence.... She's had ONE (classic) album then she dropped off the earth....not enough for HOF imo

I think this applies to any genre most female entertainers have to be good looking or at least decent in order to be successful. Sure we get some adeles and amy winehouses but most have to be considered sexually desirable

The message is the most important but unfortunately a lot pay more attention to the messenger :manny:
