Before last week, the app probably was for mostly well-intentioned used cases. but once it blew up and had an influx of a certain crowd that likes gossippy mess it was inevitably going to be used to just slander dudes who couldn’t defend themselves. Even the name of the app implies gossip.

You're naive if you think this was "mostly" for well-intentioned use case. As you rightly point out later in your post - the name of the app reveals what it is about and what kind of environment and community it was fostering from the start.

Now, that doesn't necessarily mean that there wouldn't be good use cases, and well intentioned people there - I'm sure there were - but by sheer odds and recorded echo chamber behavior - those were likely always in the minority.

The app itself isn't inherently "wrong", but by segmenting and targeting it's userbase in the manner it does - the outcome is apparent/inevitable. I mean, thecoli doesn't do this kind of segmentation and still a lot of the threads around TLR end up being redpill adjacent just off of the strength of the demographics using it - and that is on an open forum (albeit with closed registration), that isn't actively/purposely trying to foster and/or anchor conversations around those topics. Now imagine this x100 in a close environment with a specific purpose, with segmented demos and pulling from a pool of jaded and jilted users, as well as some rabid folks looking for entertainment

just last month the "women you'd nut raw in" thread went viral and it was outrage all over twitter. a coli thread that's used to post women brehs find attractive and just happens to have a comedic title - pearl clutching non-stop

a whole app dedicated to trading unverified "war stories" and potentially infringing on the privacy of the subjects of said stories, as well as possibly libellous - is cool though because "it's for women, and allows them to make smart decisions"

I'm generally of the belief that something can be explainable without it necessarily being justifiable. Those words carry different weight.

For example, you cause harm to someone in my family, and then I do something to you - it is explainable, but it might not be justifiable both in the eyes of the law, as well as morally for most people depending on how far I take it.

I get why/how the hack and subsequent doxx might have been sparked. Doesn't mean I think it's justifiable. Again just by numbers/math alone, it is probable that not all the women that have been doxxed/have their information floating online now - engaged in lies and doxxing themselves.
