With Bryan, who would be considered his peers in terms of voting? If it's mainly WWE people, then his indy run is pretty much irrelevant because their point of reference starts at 2010(when he was a good mid card hand) to now(incredibly over but too injury prone to actually make any money off it).

Still don't think Sting deserves to get in.

Not sure I get the question. A wrestler's whole career is taken into consideration to vote. And voting isn't separated by generations, Bryan competes with guys like Punk, Hennig and Slaughter, to give an example.

If you are talking about criteria for voting, the WON HOF is a combination of drawing power, being a great in-ring performer and having historical significance (in a positive manner). The ideal candidate should have something to offer in all of the three categories or be outstanding in either one or two of the categories. Meltzer has also specified that longevity should be a prime consideration rather than a hot but short run, unless, of course, that short run is so significant it cannot be ignored.

In Bryan's case, his indy run is absolutely relevant because that's what made a lot of voters consider him an historically great in-ring performer. As as I said before, his WWE run is the cherry on top.

I was gonna make a thread on this a couple of weeks back because I got back into checking out MLW and Wrestling Observer podcasts and they were discussing their ballots.

Its seems like a pretty complex voting system and its weird how some people were considered unanimous over others. Like on MLW writers room they all had Edge as a lock but then gave all these reasons Sting wasnt that somehow didnt apply to Edge

Also is this Hall of Fame tied in PWI's? Cause they have the exact same members from the wikis list Im seeing

Weird how so many people are not in, and they were trashing Colon on the Observer podcasts so I;m surprised he got in over the people he did.

So Vince McMahon Jr. can get in but not Carlos Colon? :dahell:

Colon is one of the best promoters ever and a great in ring performer, he's a lock as a Hall of Famer.

Is he a piece of shyt? Probably, Brody was too by the way (doesn't mean he deserved what he got :whoa:) and most of the wrestling figure heads. shyt. half of that HOF is probably low key racist too...

Yeah this was talked about a bit on the Observer board, if being a c*nt stopped you getting into the HoF it would be a pretty small class every year.

I'll read the new issue and think about this a bit, I'm too shocked and appalled Bryan didn't get in to think clearly right now brehs :mjcry:

That's why HBK didn't get in for a couple years, bitter old timers like Cornette, Matysik and Bockwinkel hated him personally

Guys like that eventually get in on the influence vote though

Mean Gene and Bryan are pretty much locks for next year. Sting will probably get the influence vote in the next few years.

If I had to guess most WWE guys don't even have time to send a ballot. And if they do, they put zero thought into it. shyt, Mark Madden tweeted he voted for the Andersons this year and they are not even on the ballot :heh:
Meltzer said that about 25% of the current roster subscribes to Wrestling Observer. At one time it was a crazy amount who subscribed.

He also said that some very high ups subscribe, and I got the impression that Patterson was one of them.

Benoit had a subscription when he died.

Interesting that both active and former wrestlers had Henning on their list, but reporters and historians didn't. Shows you how differently wrestlers think.

:mjlol: these fukking retards didn't put in Mean Gene or Bill Apter. If it wasn't for Apter nobody would know who half the hall of famers even are.

I'll stick to the WWE Hall, thanks. :mjpls:
They explained on the Observer that there was a guy who was the original Bill Apter, and Apter really was just a figurehead and the photographer for many years. That's why a lot of people didn't vote for him.

Meltzer voted for Mean Gene. I'm gonna guess that people don't feel that he's ultra essential to wrestling or something. I don't know. I think he'll get in soon, though.

Someone told a story, might have been Konnan, about going into a meeting with Vince and seeing an Observer on his desk. He probably stole it from one of the boys every week instead of subbing though :heh: I'd like to see a Vince ballot though :jbhmm:
