The nikka was traveling from planet to planet using instant transmission. Plus Goku said in the episode he should have just used the technique with the Cac00nrat excuses. This deadbeat used it to leave the death realm but somehow couldn't leave from that planet to Earth

Future Trunks was probably busy repopulating the human race in his own timeline, Piccolo is a Namek (and they're asexual), and you could still find Krillin chilling with the ladies on his downtime

Tien was a dope fighter, but he leaves you like wondering where he is when he's not with the Z fighters. Dude spent the entire Namek/Frieza Saga in the bushes, never showed up in the Buu Saga until everyone was already dead, and he barely shows up in the movies.

It seemed like they were gonna finally let Gohan be that dude when he got his mystic upgrade but they cheaply rolled back to using Goku.
