I agree with a lot of the things already said but for me it's shortening words that are already short. For example, bby being short for baby

They barely write in school, nobody reads actual books, everything is on an iPad with autocorrect from the time they're in kindergarten at the latest. We learned these fundamentals because we had to and repetition, those tools have been removed so they don't even realize anything is missing.
It's not even on them, society is molding them for digital spaces where most of that is done for them. Sit them down and ask then to write you a letter and you're going to be horrified.
